So I'm looking into cleaning my case tomorrow and I was considering cleaning my RAM. Current supplies include Cans of Air and a vacuum cleaner. What should I use and how should I clean my RAM sticks (maybe video card.)

Vacuums create static dischage not real good for PC hardware.

Yes I know plenty of ppl use them without a problem but IMO it is just a matter of time.

Air duster and a soft bristle and/or hard bistle brush to dislodge the stuck/caked dust.

paintbrush or I have also heard of recomedations to use alchol(rubbing) and an eraser(white?) and that can help clean off dust, dirt and stuff

You don't want to use rubbing alcohol, it has a additive that makes you sick if you drink it.... that additive leaves a film when it dries. if you can find it you want to get plan old isopropyl alcohol(non drug store). You will pay more for getting no additive, and unless someone knows where to get it in small amounts you buy a life time supply at once.

Both white eraser and alcohol is used to remove oxidation vs plan old dust. So you use it on your ram contacts vs heat spreaders etc.

With it being winter you may want hug your case a bit more as well for static discharge, if you always keep a hand or elbow or something touching the case you will be fine while working on it.

All drug stores, in Toronto at least, carry 500 mL bottles on the shelf of 99% isopropyl alcohol.

I use nafta aka zipo flue in a pinch my self.
Electronic contact cleaner is really what you want though.

Don't forget to have some thermal goo on hands as well, it comes in handy when its time to remove heat sinks and what not.

I find that even with 99%.. it still leaves a film (I used to use them for circuit board cleaning)

I buy them from electronic supply store like Sayal and it's so much better
