Was wondering which would give a better picture and more appropriate for games/movies + some surfing of the internet.
I was initially wanting to get a 2X inch TV for my second PC set up as compared to a 2x inch PC monitor having a mindset that a TV would do alot better. But some people were saying a TV wont give you resolutions as high as a PC monitor and am now quite confused as of what to settle for.
Would really appreciate as much info and advise as possible. Thank you so much for reading this.

Televisions specifications were designed for watching TV hence why there resolution is lower since you will be viewing the tv from a reasonable distance. Plus TV have a buch if DSP processing for the images in motion, some tv this can be turned off into PC mode. PC monitors were ment to be viwed at up close and therefore have a finer dot pitch/higher resolution. Now in the past some people have used 32 inch tv's for there pc monitors but again they have to be placed further back to be used correctly. Even then they still are not ideal.

If your intentions is to use this display unit mostly for watching movies and playing games(another problem depending on the type of games you play /e.g FPS) and only as a PC display here and there. Then buying a TV is not a bad option at all. Otherwise your better off just getting a 24 inch multimedia PC display unit that meets your specified requirements.

Most 24" monitors are 1920x1200, or 1900 x 1080. Most 20-29" LCD TV's are 720p, which is 1366x768 resolution. If you can find a 1080p TV in the same size as the monitor, then it's the same resolution. However, I've found that viewing text is not usually as clear on LCD TV's as it is on monitors.

Well I was suggesting he go with 32 right from the start as it makes no sense to buy anything under that size for tv. There are a select few 32 inch models that can do text well, for a TV. But they will never be able to produce text like PC monitor since the Res/dot pitch is higher.

I used a 32" 1080p TV as my primary computer display for nearly a year. Had zero complaints. Text was easy to read. Gaming was extremely immersive.

I've used my 46" Aquos to game on a few times with my PC. I'll agree that it's immersive. But I found the text slightly fuzzy and not as sharp as my 24" monitor. It all depends on your TV, I think. Anyways, Samsung makes some monitors with TV converters built in, that may be an option for the OP. The T240HD comes to mind.

Ya I think a 46" is way too big to use as a display. But a 32" is great size.

Monitors are also MUCH cheaper. Monitors are better overall, besides possibly colours as some high-er end LCD TV's look better (colour, contrast wise) than monitors.

I use a 51" 1080p tv also. Text is fine as long as you use a larger font and bigger icons, requires a bit of tuning but is workable and great for gaming and movies.
