Crucial MX200 500GB & 1TB SSD Review Comment Thread

Nice. Now that M.2 "is a thing" I'm a little surprised there aren't as many drives with that interface. Should be cheaper too as you can dispense with the convoluted data/power config and lose the case. Much like a stick of ram. I still feel the Intel 730 series 480GB I got on sale for just over 200 bucks was a better value with it's 5 year warranty.

Helpfull review

Have to say that this review has come about at a good time (for me) as I am looking to upgrade a laptop, next month.

Could I trouble you to clarify whether the thermal protection feature applies to all the MX200 capacities, or just the 1TB one?

P.S. There is a small typo on page 9 - Partial and Full Drive Performance. Last paragraph, 4th sentence:

"The drop-off is quite pronounced st some points." Should be "at".

The features, other than some elements of DWA, are incorporated into all MX200 capacities.

If the MX200 drops %30 performance when %50 full, hate to see how the BX models will fare. SO Samsung 850 Evo still is a better choice?

I would think the EVO has nearly the same issue. OCZ has a new drive coming out which may be better in this respect.

I doubt the Samsung Evo is the better choice, I've never seen AKG recommend it over any of the Crucial drive. As the new ones are better than the older ones (or at least older than the MX100) I'd still say Crucial is the way to go. Not to mention the potential warranty issues with Samsung (unless that's changed).
