I'm thinking of getting a 6670 ( with DVI, HDMI and Displayport ) and don't play the most modern games. I want to use Eyefinity and some 19" lcds and have a few questions.

Apparently not every lcd needs to connect using Displayport. So maybe one could use DVI? But I need a Displayport adaptor, right? Active or will passive work? Others have said they have some issues when using Displayport to DVI adaptors. My older lcd's are only VGA. Know of any issues for Linux flavors?

As far as I understand it you can't mix and match landscape with portrait so all monitors have to point the same direction (for SLS). Once the card is installed I simply use Eyefinity software to config SLS mode, color correct and I think I'm done.

Does anyone have an idea if I'll be able to play 3 yr old games at max using 2 or 3 19" lcds?

Thanks much,

Mac

Unless the games are racing, flight sims, etc, don't bother if they are 3+ year old games not a lot of games properly support 3 monitor gaming, and those that claim to still do a poor job sometimes.

I would first look up on here or elsewhere to see if most the games you play are fully supported (not partially).

Secondly, you need to use either a display port monitor OR use an active display port to dvi adapter (they tend to run 30+$ new depending on location and brand).

I had a 7770 running 3 screens and it struggled with medium settings in most 2-3 year old games. Just not gonna work well at all.

I had a 7870 running in 5760x1080 and i did not like the framerates, upgraded to 2x7870s in xfire and the stutter was HORRIBLE, I wouldn't try eyefinity with that old of a card 1gb is going to hold you back a ton

Well, thanks for the input. Guess I'll go with the original plan.

Thanks.
