Finally upgrading the Dragon

I asked Asus about other posabilities but got no response from them so I guess it is up to me to figure it out , I am hoping some of you wisemen here might come up with a solution for me . Of course I have to put it back together next week and try again first

Try different slots on the ram, and only use one stick.

It wont solve your problem, but if its only 1 channel of the memory controller it'll isolate the issue that its not 'the ram'.

For what its worth, as someone that had this issue with an intel CPU, its frustrating as hell to troubleshoot if it is the memory controller.

The board always stops at Error #55 ,witch is it doesn't recognise the memory , could that be the cpu ??
Not sure on the specific error, but absolutely memory issues can be related to the IMC (integrated memory controller if you happen to not know the acronym) in the CPU.

Thks been through all that , never seeing this problem before I'm not sure how you would test the cpu memory controller

Other than trying one stick at a time to see if its a partial memory controller failure, you will need another CPU to see if it resolves the issue (to 100% eliminate board/ram as the issue).
Ninja'd! I was just going to say that.

My other worry is that I bought the proc back in the beginning of Dec. so if I buy another proc to test if it is imc am I going to be stuck with an $800 dead proc. This has really been dragging out

It's totally plausable that all 4 memory controller channels are dead on the CPU, and my 'trick' wont work. Unfortunately that means....

You should still find a friend or some way to swap the CPU to test though, otherwise you're going to be chasing your tail again.

You can RMA the processor. Intel has a 3 year warranty.
