FX 8350/8320 Overclocking threads

I haven't seen that many people reach 2600mhz stable on the NB, without having exotic cooling. You are most likely hitting a thermal wall.

Do you have a power usage meter? My system will pull over 400 watts from the wall with all eight cores loaded at 4.7Ghz (1.475 vcore) and my temperatures reach 65 deg. C. with a Corsair H100. I leave my system at 4.0Ghz on stock vid of 1.35 due to thermal issues. Apparently BD and PD run better when the NB is half the speed of your core speed anyhow.

My rig is 100% water cooled so mobo and cpu temperatures aren't an issue. I think it's just the nature of the beast. I don't have a power usage meter but my best friend does. I've been meaning to ask if I can borrow it but I never think of it.

I have a H100 as well for cooling and can get my NB stable at around 2800mhz. I forget what voltage I am running but its less then 1.5. I found the smallest gain though through a high FSB and a NB of at least 2600-2700. I was even able to get my 32GB running at 1866mhz.

My 24/7 stable overclock now that I had some time this past week to open it up a bit is;

5Ghz @ 1.51volts
25 Multiplier
2600Mhz NB
2600Mhz HT
32GB 1866Mhz DDR3

Temps Idle 25C Load 48C with a H100 and 4 typhoons in push pull. Controlled by Corsair link software ~ 1500rpm under load.

I have played with raising the fsb, and have had it stable between 280-300 but the overall max OC seems to be lower. And any benefit if any had by a high fsb is negated by getting an extra 200Mhz on the cpu.
