GTA V performance reviews

You won't see a performance review from HWC. I have been operating without a direct internet line for the last 2 days and it will be another week or so until I get it back. As such, I haven't been able to finish testing with the latest drivers / patches as downloading them over a cellphone network is impossible.

Well on my current rig it runs smoother then any launch day game. Mind you I hadn't tested the tank yet but payday there will be Niagara Falls of tears when I get it all pimped out payback for the onslaught in the PS3 version lol. Overall best day 1 purchase iv ever made only glitch was online play day one.

What settings are everyone getting at 1440p? I'm just finishing up a build with a 290 and hope it can run near 60fps at high settings without AA.

I use msa x2 long shadows sharpened on very high everything and vram usage is about 5570mb it sees both my cards as 8000+ so I get a nice fluid 60 fps. Even in dense areas.

It really really depends on the settings you will use. From everything I've read, even on low settings it kicks the ass off the quality of console version and will run on quite moderate hardware.

There are some very advanced features implemented for those with extreme builds, I've heard of 970's and 290's struggling around 40 FPS with everything max'd on 1080.

Best thing to do from everything I've seen so far is just use the game setting manager by your GPU vendor (Can't remember AMD's thing but the GeForce Experience for Nvidia) and then tweak as needed / as you learn about what the trade-offs of some of the settings are.

I have everything maxed in the main graphics options and everything set to default in the advanced options. I disabled MSAA since at 1440P I don't feel like it's really needed. I am actually using NVIDIA's PCSS instead of AMD's CHS for shadows since its performance impact on my 290X is relatively minimal but it looks MUCH more realistic than AMD's technology.
