Is anyone tempted to move to Linux after W10 support ends?

If windows 11 is the same crap it is today when W10 support end, unless they get some kind of windows 12 that is good out, I might go dual boot. Do everything in linux and boot windows from time to time when I want to game. I guess it's still early to know what's going to happen, maybe we'll all end up with Macbook!
I would guess Win 11 will get suitably tweaked within the next couple years, or Win 12 will get released IOT get people off Win 10. They will not get the adoption rate as is (Win 11 = Win 8 v 2.0 [though maybe not that bad]).

For the time being, I am sticking with Win 10.

I have been messing with Ubuntu more and more and there are a lot of things I like but also a lot of software that simply isn't compatible yet. This means for the time being my primary desktop will likely remain windows, and my work laptop has to be a mac. But just about every other computer I have here is already running Ubuntu but their tasks like a google meets for when the schools were closed are all sorted out. Or the junk computer in the garage that belongs in electronics recycling can conitnue to server as a useful sacrifice while working in the garage instead of wrecking my phone by accident.

The steam deck is driving linux compatibility of a lot of games I play too so the chances or removing windows from the house completely is more and more likely.

With Microsoft adding more and more features support to Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), in a few more releases maybe which you pick will matter a whole lot less ;)

unfortunately for me my system use's Corsair Commanders x2 and corsair has not plans to ever support linux meaning my fan curves and keyboard profiles will never work properly,

that and most of the programs i use will require windows for now. oddly enough found out games that use EAC (Outriders) have issues. i hope win12 does what windows 7 did by being amazing.

Linux and Gaming don't go well together, if you need a gaming rig - then you'd need a Windows box for that.

However, if you are a techsavvy user and you like tinkering and figuring out until 3am why something that used to work, no longer does - Linux is your best pal.

Jokes aside, I run Linux on my primary and use Windows VMs (VMWare Workstation Pro) for anything else that might require Windows OS. Don't game much so no hit for me there:

@Zubi , what are your specs now? And why do you think it is not Windows 11 Compatible?

Corsair firmware updates for those commanders is questionable at best. The earlier commander I bought was completely broken just updating from windows 7 to 10. I had to hack the drivers just to get the thing to shut up and the very next update it was broken again.

Corsair basically told me and the large number of others I found in the threads discussing the hack fixes to just buy the newer model and leave them alone.

the one that came Built into my Corsair 1000D has been flawless (fingers Crossed) iv since bought my 8 over the last few years only one has been finicky, as in fan 6 doesn't show up,

i also found you cant use more then 2 Y splitter's to increase the number of available fans it will brick the unit.

It didn't brick but it would connect/disconnect/connect/disconnect every 2-3 seconds playing the USB chimes each time. Took watching device manager to realize it was the commander and unplugging it was the early solution until finding the hacky firmware stuff.

Like JD said, the entry ticket is Intel 8th gen or Ryzen 2000. Rn full systems with Intel gen 8 are under 300cad. In 3 years they will be even cheaper.
