I was wondering if anyone had some good tasting light beer recommendations I can pass along to my fiancee.

She wants to try to find some beer to enjoy as she can't drink that many coolers due to the carbonation (upsets her stomach, won't get into that rant with doctors) and doesn't like any derivative of grapes other then in their original form (aka she doesn't like grape juice or even smoothies with grapes blended up).

The other reason is due to the barley in beer which is suppose to be good for your digestive system (which she is on medication to help with) due to the amount of fibre and other nutrients in it.

I'm asking since I don't drink light beers at all and don't want to waste money trying obviously bad beers. The only beers that I drink that we've found she likes is Rickard's White.

Thanks guys, thought there should be some beer experts on here.

I'm not a light beer drinker either but I found Coors Light to be not to bad.

NBLiquor used to carry a lot of singles from damaged cases back when I was in Gagetown in the early '90's, if they still do that you could grab a sampling...

i prefer malt liquor cause it gets you drunk cheaper, faster, without needing a 12pack. but if i had to choose from light piss because of a weak stomach i would probably say corona, its extremly light. think they even have a light variation of corona not that they need one

She's tried Corona and wasn't a fan of it at all. She's not that overly expensive to get drunk anyways, 3-4 coolers (if she drinks them) and she's fairly buzzed. Just looking for the health benefits of getting her to switch to beer (not to mention less sugar then in coolers)

Sam, grab your wife some good Wheat beers. Richards white is a wheat based beer, and they are very popular with women who arnt traditionally beer drinkers including my wife. I don't think that 'light' beers will solve Tara's taste issues, unless by 'light' you mean non-beer tasting ;-)

just ask the local beer shop for some good local microbrewery wheat based stuff. It may be more expensive, but they are really good. There are also famous wheat based beers like Hoegaarden that are excellent. Mill st brewery here in Toronto makes one called 'Wit' which is enjoyable. I actually really like all of mill st products, but a lot of them are ales that she probably won't enjoy.

Try them with a slice of orange, and watch her swoon into your manly arms, haha

bud light aint bad either but if corona was too strong im not sure bud light will be any better, same with coors.

you should probably just get some healthy juices and make light coctails

She'll drink Rickards white sometimes, but its normally one beer and that's all she can stand for drinking it. More then likely it is light non-beer tasting as most the darker beers I drink she doesn't like the taste or the beer burp smell I get form it after.

I'll try to find out some microbrews here in Saint John, though I think there is only The Alehouse (or is it The Wheeelhouse) that I know of.

I recommend "Perinebeer". It'll soothe her stomach and it's oh so good for her skin.... :thumb:
Something about low quality ingredients has her not interest, wonder where she would have gotten that idea from

The wheat based is key, that's what gets these beers away from that traditional 'beer' taste we're talking about ;)

As to the Richards, its the worst of the wheat based beers I've had, so I'd definitely try others on her. Any local shop should be able to get you hoegaarden, in case there isn't a local microbrewery that makes a wheat based beer

Make her drink the regular stuff, then have sex to burn the excess calories she got by drinking regular beer.
Win win.

If she likes the Richard's White, she'll likely enjoy the Blonde.
