Hey HWC! Long time no see!
So long story short, I have a Asus G14 2021 (AMD 5900, RTX3060 60W, 16gb ram and 1TB storage, awesome laptop, awfull motherboard quality. I'm getting rid of it and I can't decide what else to get. We have many G14 at work and they keep failling over and over again, so another G14 is out of the question. In fact, another Asus is out of the question.
Out of that, the laptop is perfect and fill all my need.
Long battery life when I need it, strong performance when I need it.
Pretty light and nice form factor.
All I do for gaming is Diablo 2 resurected, and the last flight simulator.
What are you guys using or would like to buy for about 2000 canadian pesos with comparable spec but hopefully better build quality.
I don't need or want RGB and flashy thing. Just a laptop that I can trust for more than 6 months.

Thank you!

My son has a Gigabyte Aorus lap top that he uses for work/gaming. It was closer to $2400 cdn if I recall and it's now still going strong after >1.5 years.
It has a 2070gpu spec I believe and 16g ram is about all I recall......Point is that it's build quality is excellent and it continues to serve him well!
GOOD LUCK in your hunt!

legion seems a nice choice, plus lenovo have (like a 3 or 5%) rebate for peolpe with military ID. I would have love a less chonky boy, but look like very few but asus went this way. There the MSI, but review seems very here and there.
Any one have experience with the Dell G series? I trust lenovo a lot especially since there is a repair service for them in town, but I also have good experience with dell.

I have a Dell G15. 5800h 3060. About 9 or so months old. It can get loud. But temps are good. Stock speakers are mediocre, can barely hear over the fans if you are doing something intensive. I have the 165hz ips and it is a good display, although I don't use it outdoors, so not sure ok how bright it is. Been mining its whole life and no issues so far.

Hey lowfat! Nice to see many old member are still here and mod now!
How is the keyboard temp when doing heavy work? I can't play on my G14 keyboard on the top left for more than 10-15 min since it's back from RMA, it get painfully hot.

It isn't something I've ever noticed. Although TBH I think the most demanding thing I've done on it is play like 12hrs straight of Civ5.

So, I have been looking a lot for the past few day and took a look at every model listed above, but I finally went with the HP Omen 16. Seems to check all of the box and well, it's available with a Canadian multilanguage keyboard. That's pretty much what ended the race. Plus there was a nice rebate on it from HP website. The Dell seemed nice but delivary was estimated around mid july, lenovo doesn't seem to allow order of gaming laptop with a CDN keyboard unless you got it in store, and I couldn't find a model locally that wasn't a RTX3050 or way over budget.
Let's hope I made a good decision!

Thank you!
