New Receiver

You're in the same boat as me since my Onkyo seems to be loosing power lately. I used to be able to set it on a volume of 32 and now I need to crank it to 40+ to get decent sound.

The only difference is that I only need four HDMIs (PS4, Blu Ray player, HTPC & satellite box) so I have a range of options. Finding 6+ HDMIs in that price range isn't easy....

Especially since you may be sacrificing slight sound quality (if you're an audiophile) in order to get those extra HDMIs in too. To get more of something you have to give up somewhere else if you're meeting the same price point

I think your best bet would to just get an HDMI splitter and it's going to be extremely difficult or impossible to find a receiver in your price range with that many ports.
The majority of models in this thread are within an acceptable price range. I'll likely hold out for sales and such as well. Keeping on eye on things...

Emotiva, Anthem, NRD, etc stuff is way out of my realm. That's audiophile territory and I wouldn't classify myself as such. An enthusiast at the most, I mean I don't want terrible sound by any means, but something "decent" is good enough.

I can say nothing but good things about my Yamaha receiver. Had a pioneer and it got returned. Yamaha has a great sound and is lasting me very well. That said I have never tried Marantz and my father in-laws Onkyo sounds quite good as well.

Pioneer is only good if you buy into the Elite series. Marantz has always been a top contender.

Actually that's not bad. It doesn't have a lot of power output but should suit your purposes just fine. In your price range I'd probably stick to Harmon Kardon or Yamaha unless you go Pioneer Elite but that's out of your price range.

Check out this link as they have some great clearout prices. Yamaha, Harmon Kardon, and Onkyo are all in your price range and most have 7 HDMI in.

Hmm good catch, though I've seen a lot of posts about HDMI boards failing on HK's and Onyko's, so it kind of makes me leery, but it seems my current trend is only having an AVR for roughly 2 years anyhow...within the warranty periods.

I like that it uses digital power though, always good to save electricity, especially now with summer coming.

Piggybacking this thread to note I ended up picking up an Anthem MRX-510 after doing some investigation following Turtletrax's mention of them in here. Initially wasn't happy with it but as of yesterday evening the recent firmware has corrected my annoyances with the unit (short delay after starting paused/stopped playback resulting in audio loss).

The menu UI is intuitive and it's highly customizable down to specifying particular inputs and modifying sound beyond even after room correction has been used. Firmware updates and applying room correction files (after saved) is a breeze. It also sounds significantly better than my old SC-05 Elite. I'm guessing this is in large part due to the fact that the ARC-2 room correction seems to be superb. If you're willing to spend a bit more I can't imagine anyone being disappointing with it. I grabbed the MRX-510 due to the pre-outs to a separate amp if down the road I was willing to go that route, but overall I'm quite pleased with how it's handling my B&W 683s.

Anthem is a division of Paradigm by the way, support goes through them directly.
