NVIDIA GTX TITAN vs. SLI & Crossfire Comment Thread

Honestly i don't believe in 3D mark at all,the real games benchmarks show the truth,680 SLI is better than 7970 crossfire anyway,in almost any real games.

LOL that is all

Depends on what the dev wants to do,crysis 3 for example, but the 680 SLI have more potential, with proper game coding.

typical response blame the developer.

Anyway these solutions destroy the titan! Good review,i would just have liked to see 680 lighting or normal 7970...Not really fair.

the 680 lightning is not a reference card, the 7970 ghz edition is.

Don't know what article you read:
While the framerates of AMD’s high end Crossfire setups is nothing short of spectacular, that doesn’t necessarily translate into an acceptable gameplay experience. On the contrary, in nearly every title, the two HD 7970s or HD 7950s displayed atrocious frame time delivery which resulted in a distinct lack of fluidity and negatively impacted everything from shot accuracy to player immersion. Crossfire is still riddled with stuttering and various other bugs while SLI has its own set of teething problems. This unfortunate situation leaves the TITAN’s position in the market relatively unscathed since it can deliver consistently high performance with none of the dual card solutions’ excess drama.

For crysis 3,when you start the game, there is AMD logo, not nvidia :P Just saying

Ah,the GHZ edition is the reference card? Strange,on AMD website it says 925 mhz.GHZ Edition is an overclocked card i think :)

Its a "reference card" because of the update but you can still buy 925 mhz cards at the moment ,they are not all GHZ at all

It's true that the Ghz can be faster than the 680's tho, depends on the application,as always.
And in this review, the 680 don't seem to be overclocked,if SKY could just tell me if they are OC or not,so we can compare

Anyway, everybody knows a 680 is faster than a 7970 in general,in SLI/Crossfire,may be different, crossfire works good. But still, you have more FPS with these solutions than the Titan, even if the Titan have better frame times for a smoother experience, that's all i had to say, anyway this is not about the 680 and the 7970.

No need to start a debate about brands and stuff :bleh: it's not the topic

I just think that's its not fair to see GHZ edition cards vs poor cute stock 680's :punk:
Nvidia could just clock the 680 higher and say,it's the new 680!

Now stop destroying me :haha:

The HD 7970 GHz Edition is a reference design with reference GHz Edition clock speeds. IE: 1GHz Core which boosts to 1.05GHz when thermals allow. GDDR5 @ 6Gbps.

Yep i know,AMD generally makes 2 versions of their cards. They make an overclocked one that they call reference, because they made it,not the manufacturer:) so yeah it's better than a 680 in most cases.

kill, turn down the backgroundfx effects option and it's done :D 100% smooth.

If you mean post-processing, it doesn't help. Oddly enough when I try that, my FPS stays the same and GPU usage drops from ~98% to ~75%. You'd think both GPUs would be going full bore and FPS would increase. :blarg:
At my res which is 5040x1050 I get between 60 to 70 FPS on ultra with no AA. I even tried setting everything to low. With 90+ fps it STILL stutters. It's gotta be drivers not playing nice with the Dunia game engine. :angry2:
Other games like Crysis 3, Skyrim, Borderlands 2 are smooth as can be.

I would like to see a comparison between AMD and Intel for the frame times with a combo of cards. My 2 7970's in xfire flicker or jitter effect on anything less then 4.6Ghz(8350). Open it up past that 4.7 and 4.8 and it seems to run smooth again in the same games or 3Dmark. There is an issue there that AMD needs to address.

you can currently and more so for quite a few weeks at ncix get a gigabyte 7970 oc card for 400$ saw them as low as 350 at one point - I've had 2 that both oced to 1285/1850 "core/mem" respectively(24/7) and while benching 1315/1950 "core/mem"(on bench table) respectively and with window open 1325/2000 "core/mem" during late fall ofc.

but either way that's a pretty ownage xfire pack right there for 800$ today "700 on special days". that can most likely sit at 1250 core 1800 mem 24/7 for ever and ever.

considering my 1315/1950 run still sits above stock titan runs of similar cpu clocks.

makes me wonder is it even close to worth it?.

imho nope no it is not.

now if that titan was 700$ .. well then maybe were talking then
