NVIDIA Silently Launches GTX 460 SE Graphics Card

Thanks Mike, originally I had read it was supposed to be cheaper than the GTX 460, apparently not?

naming implying one thing, performance another.

but seriously why edit the frog out of my thread, then my post lol?

ah sorry didn't notice that - must have happened when I merged the threads. It's supposed to link an excerpt of the story in the first post; looks like the system was a little unsynced so yours was considered 'first' for a short time and thus has the excerpt.

Sorry I don't have your original comment saved, but you can feel free to edit it.

hard to say how it compares to a 768 MB 460, but I'm surprised they would be pricing it more expensive then such. on paper the SE is more capable in somethings then the 460-768, and vice versa.. but I can't imagine the SE having a major advantage still over the 460-768, particularly at high resolutions... but only the reviews will tell.

*wipes tears

its ok.

well, even with more ram and a faster clock speed, its got less juice under the hoo so basically get the 768 megger to the same clocks and itll smoke it, unless there is a game where the extra bit of ram will make the difference, but considering the core being rather weak-sih...

I'm confused and scared by the Nvidia naming scheme.

I think lots of people are going to see SE and think it's better than a regular 1gb at a cheaper price.

Bad for Nvidia if that happens.

I figure it's a product thats fits into the market between the 768MB gtx460 and the 1MB gtx 460. A little more performance and price than the 768MB and a little less performance and price than the 1GB. Makes sense to me.
