i've seen the headlight switch contacts not closing to complete the circuit with nissan pick-up truck

due to someone install fog lights on switch wires, causing overheating and melt the contact cam

There weren't any fuses in the passenger fuse box for the headlights when I checked today. Thanks for the additional ideas. Im gonna try clean up the plugs tomorrow. And if that doesn't make a difference I'll have a look at the Daytime light module.

im telling you thats where the problem stems from, its where the 12volt and ground go to each high and low beam no 12 volts bad module.

Also check and make sure that the Ground that comes from the Engine block to the Body chasie and other such ground cables or wires are clean and have good connection what about the tail light on the same side check that to make sure it is working while the head lights are on

Just found this thread on the internets. Same as my problem and very likely that it could be the Daytime light control control....

Most likely it is the daytime running light module. Not sure what that module runs at a dealership, but you should be able to get one at a wrecker or pick-a-part. If you want a repair on the cheap while you track down a module you can tap a wire from the working lowbeam wire to the dead low beam wire.

when you pull it out, open it. check the back of the pcb. the 12volt lines are constant through it. they look like metal bars re-solder them and it may work again.

alternatively, the relays on that board also have cracked contacts.

Well, I ran a length of wire from the lowbeam circuit of the working light over to the dead LB connector of the other light. It seems to have worked with no fuses blown. I'll keep hunting for a DRL module in the meantime.

definitely worth checking out the local wreckers for anything with a PCB on it. The ABS module on my old alero would have cost me close to $1K from the dealer, and I finally found one at a NB wrecker for around $100.
