Only for new PCs, Microsoft reveals how long Windows 11 26H1 gets updates

Windows 11 version 26H1 will debut next month on Snapdragon X2 devices. Here's how long this special offshoot version of Windows 11 will be supported for.

this makes no sense to me. it didn't make sense when they announced it's releases to be exclusive to Snapdragon X2 devices...now I'm totally befuddled.
 
From what I understand, this is a special offshoot for ARM chips only. 26H1 has no changes from 25H2, except that it is coded for ARM CPUs. 26H1 is for ARM chips only, but later in the year, 26H2 will be the update for all Intel/AMD chips.

So it's just an ARM-based OS of Windows 11.

LOL I didn't even know there was an ARM version of Windows 11, Win11 ARM 25H2 doesn't get an update from what I can see. Devices running 26H1 will not be able to upgrade to 26H2 later in 2026, but will eventually merge back onto the main platform with version 27H2.

It seems they are using 26H1 as the first major ARM core OS for Windows 11. I don't know why MS is choosing to do it this way rather than just launching a new ARM version of the OS with a new branding.
 
What a d*ck move by Microsoft. I have an ASUS ARM windows laptop and it is great:

So first they push for ARM, then they force you to get a new ARM laptop to get new version of Windows. This won't fly, people will abandon ARM in this case. Why bother.
