I want to get a few more months out of my AM2+ setup. I am running a 7750BE at 3.1GHz so I am looking for something that will give me a noticeable boost, which probably rules out the 8xx series.

I was just hoping someone would be looking to help out a fella down on his luck (my new 6850 being bottlenecked way more than he thought it would) with a nice 955 or 1090t for a decent price

Don't forget X4 940

Hey Donimo,

Don't rule out the Phenom II X4 940. I had an X2 6400+ BE in my gaming rig and replaced it with a 940 overclocked to 3.6Ghz with a simple multiplier change and a Hyper 212+ heat sink, it showed a significant boost in FPS on my fav games. :thumb:

just going to quad core will help

some of the games like bf2 : bc2
or block ops

like 3+ cores and gain a lot of FPS

and 940 vs others won't matter
just make sure your motherboard can take it

Thanks guys, I hadn't ruled anything out, I just didn't want to bother with anything too hobbled, like the 8XX series or a low clock triple/double core phenom II. My board can take up to the 1100T, but it is the SB700 southbridge so unlocking is out (dammit ;) ).

I just am a tad bummed that even a 6850 is bottlenecked this bad. Playing Dx:hr the fps always stays between 20-30 no matter the settings.

what is dx : hr ?

nm found out. deus ex human revolution

read on the cpu part
dual core limits the game going to a good quad unlocks the bottle neck

said right in the article over 45% cpu usage on 6 cores
game basically needs all of 3 cores, does not add up for a dual core system

not sure how many ppl are looking to sell
until they upgrade to bulldozer

but they start around 100 new on newegg

I'm probably going to be selling my phenom II x4 945 soon. Probably going to list it in the local classified. It's 3.0Ghz but it runs at 95w which makes it compatible with a lot of lower/middle end AM2/AM2+ boards. Actually the fastest processor you can put in a AM2 board. It does overclock if motherboard allows you to adjust the bus speed, had it going 3.2ghz easy enough, probably could do more but my motherboard won't allow me to adjust the volts.

Oh and I'm selling it was a huge 6400+ x2 cooler if wanted, since the cooler it comes with in the box is pretty tiny.

Wanna buy some DDR2 ram as well? ;)

I wanted to clear close to a 100 for it.

My board can handle anything, it's all good. It lists all the way up to 1100T 125w.

I finished Deus Ex last night so on to Metro 2033, that game makes me sad because I can't run it at "very high" with all the bells and whistles. Still gorgeous at "High" with every thing else turned on though, 25-60fps is enough to get by for now.

I guess I should just be happy my old school CPU and 130 dollar gpu can run this stuff at all ha.

I have a 920 quad core I could let go cheap but if you overclock it.. it's all FSB (not black edition) If you use ddr2 ram I also have 8 gigs of the 9600 OCZ flex avaliable which would help with overclocking. It's 1200mhz ddr2 ram.

I know it's probably not what you are looking for but I'll let it go for 25 bux.

Well all the "I gots one for you when Bulldozer releases" offers dried up fast ha!

Picked up that 920, hopefully it's all i need for a while. :)
