Then they should just remove the option. Raising it to $750 just seems like bad publicity.

It will funnel people to the monthly and yearly while also allowing them to cash in when someone actually pays that stupid price. Also, why do they need all of these stupid streaming shows and movies? Howe long until hosting your own stuff is removed as well? I love plex but I try not to thinlk about it too much. didnt unraid also raise prices in a stupid way? Not as much but it seems the way things are going these days.

I'd would hazard a guess it means the monthly price is going higher than what they have announced too.

1.99/mo or 249.99 = 125 months

New
2.99/mo or 749.99 = 250 months
The monthly price jumping to be 125 months again would be about $5.99/mo to keep the ratio. Near a year from the 2.99 price bumped Id guess comes the 5.99

Holy shit, has Plex been taken over by a private equity group? This is the exact 'run your company into the ground' behaviour I'd expect from one.

I bought a lifetime pass on sale ages ago. It's been worth it mostly for the organizing and metadata functions. Zero interest in Plex as a 'cable' service. They've got to be insane to think people would pay that, espesially given there's a handful of other alternatives that likely work just as well as Plex now.

The enshittification of the tech sector continues...
