Printer suggestion? Yep. Not my area...

Ha! I actually remember doing that all the time when swapping big toner cartridges in large laser printers - shaking the crap out of them. And I just remembered why too (you jogged my terrible memory!): the worst a toner cartridge can do is sortof solidify the "dust" inside into more of a solid.

So ill grab a Brother B&W laser printer, and just shake the toner cartilage once in a while before use. Should be golden?

Any recommendations on a specific model? Wifi or ethernet would be a preference, not USB. Small consumer size. No other requirements other than not being ridiculously expensive haha

Not sure if you're looking for something with a scanner but I'm really partial to their standard DCP all-in-ones.

Just a quick look, these at least come with a full toner separately, so that would likely last you a lifetime :)

Otherwise most only include "starter" toner which is around 500 pages, probably still enough, but something to be aware of. Seems like most have moved to chipped toner cartridges now in an attempt to prevent third-party brands.

Colour laser seems extremely cost prohibitive from my research.

Really like the one @sswilson linked, buy DAYUM... I mean... DAM! Its Huge! Thought consumer laser printers would've been a bit smaller by now, looks like I was wrong. Same size for 15+ years.

I do like the idea of having a Scanner too. So it might just have to be that one, as the other suggested ones are a bit smaller but still pretty big compared to an inkjet. Ill have to put someone on its own, theyre so big... haha (partially joking)

Heh.... looking through the specs it's still the same old platform that's been around for over a decade.

Wifi is 802.11a/n, ethernet is listed just as that so I'd expect it's probably a 100MB connection, and USB is still USB 2.0 :)

That said, I had a version of the DPC which lasted the better part of 10 years so I'd trust the platform.

Laser ones? Haven't seen one much smaller than like a microwave. 🤷‍♂️
I meant to find an example and forgot to follow up. The ones I'm thinking of are usually a category most people forget exist but thermal printers are a thing and they get surprisingly small. Usually most people only see them as receipt printers not full page printers.

Random Amazon Example

Need thermal paper instead of standard printer paper but if your talking like 10 pages a year the cost of paper is pretty negligible.

Ahhhh thermal printering!... no thanks?
1- its not a Brother (they do make one but since its presumably built like a tank its insanely expensive)
2- these are often USB or wirelessly connected, and id prefer a direct wired ehrernet connection
3- smudge-y? Never been impressed with the quality of thermal printers. Its almost like *suspicious glasses on* 🥸 theyre mostly used to print receipts youre Meant to keep that instantly fade away / print blurry.
4- the more I think about it, the more I thinking that id use the scanner part of a multi function printer more than any other. So gotta get me one with a scanner!

Wasn't a bad idea at all though! And the thermal paper concept plus modern direct laser (like engraver lasers and cutters) makes me wonder why we are not just burning text onto paper nowadays haha.

Silly: I guess in the meantime I could use my still-not-functioning Ender and... 2D print with it? Maybe they've got a really Ink-like filament that would print onto paper nicely haha. Oooh! That could be used for people with vision difficulties to print braille! Like, really BIG braille!

Anyways, ill probably just pick up the 200$ ish dollar Brother mfp at bestbuy in the next few days. Just gotta stick it somewhere...
