Need more RAM for X58 platform
6GB
DDR3
Triple channel
1600Mhz 9-9-9-27

12GB 3x4 will work as well, thanks!

Any 3 matching DDR3 sticks will work. Dual, Triple and Quad Channel actually refers to the amount of sticks the memory controller can access at once. I've tested this many times on triple and quad channel boards.

Just saying, it might be easier/cheaper to find a 4x2GB or 4x4GB set and leave one in the box.

I might have something, it would be OCZ RAM from my i7 920. Can't remember the timings though. I will check and get back to you by tomorrow (Fri, 7 Oct).

Here is what I have. Timings don't match what you asked, these are 8-8-8-24. SugarJ's suggestion is certainly valid. There are some good sales on right now. However I think these are decent. They actually look more gold in person, brighter.

Not sure what a fair price would be, maybe $80 shipped?

Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for the replies guys, I could have sworn the RAM needed to be 1.65v ?

If I'm mistaken then my options are not as limited as I thought!
I'm going to doublecheck to make sure and get back to you all later today, thanks!

!
My Gigabyte x58 board accepts my 3x4 triple channel Corsair Vengeance spec with 1.5v. So, you do have more choices as suggested.

Yes I made the same mistake as you. I thought they had to be a tri channel set..

NOPE!

so you might even find brand new for cheaper!

My understanding is that a triple channel set guarantees 3 sticks with matched characteristics (manufacturers match them during their binning process). If you buy 2 sets of dual channel, they may give you good match when you use only 3 of them, but then you would not know for sure.

Yeah, I didn't realize the 1.65v didn't matter either. Could have sworn I read about that somewhere a while ago that you needed 1.65 vs 1.5

Thanks for the help guys!
