And now for my somewhat rant: My 10 year old goalie is trying out for Rep Hockey (his idea, not mine) and the suspense is killing me. He's right on the verge of being cut / making it from what I can see, and it's going to suck if he gets cut because there aren't enough goalies in house. They'd normally carry 2 goalies per rep team but because not enough goalies registered some rep teams will only carry one (the house teams only get one each). I've got butterflies in my stomach because I'm hating the prospect of having to tell him he got cut. I haven't been this nervous since before I asked my last girlfriend out 14 years ago (she's my wife now 😍). Oh well, we'll know after the final cut tomorrow night. He's playing really well too, better than he was last year. If he does get cut at least he will probably be one of the top picks in the house draft and will play every minute like last year. Other than my anxiety it's been a fun process, he's stepped up to playing against better players very well.

Well, good luck to him! (y) As for you, take a chill pill - if he's playing that well, and still gets cut, that bodes well for next year, i.e. after a season of playing pretty much ALL THE GAMES, he should be well positioned to make the Rep team next year, and/or get the call-up to play Rep on the occasion of the Rep team's goalie being ill, injured, on vacation, etc.

As for the folks on the East coast, let us know how it went.... that is, once the power comes back on. 🙏

Well the asking the girlfriend out seems to have gone OK ;) Hopefully the boy's efforts will pay off too. Fingers crossed for him!

Yeah, my gripe is mostly that the association hasn't done enough to develop more goalies. It's not his fault he might have to play house when he's played well enough to be in the top 8 for Atom. He's only been a full time goalie for one season so I'm proud of how far he's gotten already, and I've told him that.
It also turns out that the butterflies in my stomach may actually be food poisoning, my wife's been in the bathroom all evening and I'm now getting the sweats and chills too. Kids are fine, they didn't put the lettuce in their tacos. I did, and she ate a salad so she's had it the worst so far.

Yikes! That's not good. Hopefully it doesn't last long, especially heading into the weekend.

Been there a few times with two goalies though they are both trying for House this year. Some years failure, some success and growth from both those. Tense, but loads of fun.

Rep carrying one goalie is nuts though- my boys both gained so much by having a partner.

Fairly common- I have sent $,000s a year in extra training for years now. Between the two never less than $4000, won't miss that part.

I'm getting pissed off that mid-range cell phones are costing $750 USD!

Granted, first world problem, but I get it. I do miss the Google-subsidised Nexus days. I tend to buy used more often now, previous gen.

On a hurricane note, all the exterior loose items around the property have been brought inside or secured. Hopefully it won't come to much but we'll see. I don't care for hurricanes... Stupid weather :cautious:

So, out of curiosity, what do you expect the association to do, to "develop more goalies"? Anything I've ever seen, with regards to minor hockey, is that any minor hockey "association" is little more than a group of hockey parents that want to be in charge, and in many cases, make sure their "little Johnny" gets on the rep team. That, and AFAIK, the kids that end up being goalies, are simply those that want to play the position. How do you suppose the association could go about "developing" more goalies..... offer some sort of incentive to encourage more kids to try the position.... something else?

I'm kinda surprised that a minor hockey association as large as Langley is short of goalies..... I know it was somewhat similar last season, for the Chilliwack midget division.
