Rants etc.....

Sorry to hear that,in some cases, doctors are stupid and give you wrong advice ,in some cases, they are great.Little story:

I have an eye problem, sorry ,my medic english sucks.I'm not gonna tell the story of my life but well, it's called the KCV, a Keratite (very rare disease),we say in french.I could not open eyes for 2 years and it was extremly painfull.I saw about 15 different specialist docs, they all said that it was a KCV,but the doctor that was said to be the best about eyes in the entire france, (American hospital,Paris) said another thing that was totally wrong, and he was going to tell me to apply very dangerous substances And operate my eyes (to make money of course)

My mother found the problem, and now i'm ok, it was acidity that was generating those acid tears.Sometimes,my PH was around 4.I totally agree with ST about that, it's super true and important, even if i had a real disease, but It seems that that disease was modifying my PH.

Yes ,plenty of homeopathy works ,and helps people a lot! i totally agree with that, but not for all people! We are all different.

All day long full coverage of the Grey Cup festivities on CBC NN???? Really????

Would we get this if it wasn't being held in TO?

modern Medicine is very good but as a people we are so depended on the one pill cure.

We way way over use medicines. the Human body is probably the most amazing thing on this planet and pretty much can Cure itself of allot of things if it is left to do it.
I hate going to emergency ,one of the reason is that every single time I have been there I had to wait because some or most people in there have a cold or a flu or the like.

There are plenty of homeopathic remedies that work.

You can't patent a natural substance. That fact is the bane of human health in our capitalism driven society.

Celery is a pain killer but very weak, why don't we have a condensed celery tablets?

Garlic as an antibiotic?

There is a lot of natural stuff that I would gladly use over chemicals anyday, but the market for them doesn't exists because you can't make money off of them.

Seriously, NEVER quote wikipedia as a source if you want any credibility at all.

In this case I quoted it because it was entirely correct.

"Modern medicine" is really relied upon far too heavily today. There are plenty of homeopathic remedies that work. My wife is a sucker for modern medicine and now she is nearing liver failure due to the amount of medications her doctor's tell her she needs. Not sure what is gonna kill her first, their advice or the medicine.

I have never come across a homeopathic medicine that has worked. Let's not confuse proper nutrition supplements and natural foods for "homeopathy"

A lot of the drugs we have today are synthesized and changed from a natural substance that already works.... just so they can be patented.

KIA, I love and hate you.

Hate, because you oversized the filter just enough so I had to drive to work on a Sunday and get my Filter Wrench kit. Love, because you put the filter in quite possibly the easiest place for me to service.

Do you know why people rely on modern medicine?

Because it's based on actual science. You know, that branch of knowledge which has successfully built on itself to the point where we all are using computers, electricity, homes built to code, etc.....

I am not saying hubris, laziness or negligence does not come into play in modern medicine, especially where doctors are concerned. If I have pneumonia which is not getting better while I quaff water with homeopathic certified transferred memory of jesus tears, unicorn blood or flying spaghetti monster drippings, I'm going to see a doctor at some point unless I want to die. The power of the placebo is strong, but it can't cure everything.

Many herbal remedies are also backed by science, which I also use, and general medicine are not against them. Many of their results are demonstrable in peer reviewed, double blind scientific tests.

(ps) Wikipedia often has a References and Bibliography at the end of each article. Check their sources yourself if you doubt their validity. I do.

All that modern science and modern medicine has done for us is to allow human beings that are far too ill to survive without intervention to strain the ineffective public health system. Life expectancies are on the decline and we are not living longer. There is a growing population of people living sicker. Medicine is not the only answer, and most doctors will not try and use dietary treatments to try and help people.

Medicine is poisoning people. My wife has declining liver function because she is a sucker for what the doctors tell here in regards to needing another damn pill for for health. They do nothing to try and reduce her medications until she becomes even more ill and they don't want to kill that piggy bank by killing the patient. A dead patient makes them no money, the same as a healthy one.

We have to stop relying on the current practice and go back to healthy eating and living. Most of us, myself included, couldn't survive without modern technology. What would we all do tomorrow if the lights went out forever? How many people even have the skills to provide for themselves completely? Science is little help here.

Just as you have the right to believe that science will save the world, I have the right to believe that science is going to be the end of man as we know it. It's time for people to take back control of their own lives and destinies, stop relying on science, medicine and government to do it. Those 3 things are great tools when used properly, but we stopped doing that collectively as a species decades ago.

Modern medicine in certain cases, allows and encourages people to keep up their bad habits and unhealthy lifestyles. They get sick, the system pays for their treatment, or surgery, they get some nice pills to take for a while, then they drop back into the same routine. The cycle repeats. You've got some patients at hospitals who have to go out for a smoke while on O2 in their skirt out in the snow. There's no real accountability in a taxpayer funded health care system; and as a result some people abuse the system. I think that the treatment for conditions that are a direct result of one's lifestyle, diet, etc, should be payed for by the patient.
