Rants etc.....

Thanks, hopefully it all goes smoothly.

If you've got access to solder paste, QFN isn't too bad providing you've got a steady hand. Just apply paste, part and heat it up with a heat gun. You may need to hold the part in place if it's prone to shifting once the paste melts.

Unfortunately the paste is expensive and has a short shelf life so we generally don't keep any on-hand as we seldom need it, sadly the only package I could get this particular part in was a QFN and had to do 16 of them with hot air and regular solder.

Just reading "heat gun" made me shiver! Pencil iron or Pace kit, if you please :)

Why is it always the smallest (and hardest to replace) screws that turn out to be non-magnetic???? (rhetorical question... I'm sure there are more than a few legit reasons, but that doesn't make looking for the little buggers when they fall out of the impossibly hard to access area that they're supposed to go into......... ;) ).

The news and videos about the aftermath of the typhoon in the Philippines are overwhelming. Too bad that the Philippine government is so f****d up they can't even think, they don't even know what to do. Too bad that I can't do anything to help physically.

You mean there is still people living there? Geez I thought they were all over here. Which leads to MY rant. Ordering a "Large 1 Milk 1 Sugar" coffee at tim hortons does NOT mean "Large 1/2 Milk 1/2 Sugar with just a splash of coffee" - Tried to call and make a complaint but there was a language barrier.........
