discussion Reputation of Gfx brands ?

Hi !

As I´m strongly considering upgrading to a 9800GTX, I came to wonder, which brand to choose.:sad: Most of them cost nearly the same, and so far I have only seen the reference design, so is there a brand to prefer, based on other things than the price. I am currently using a Inno3D 8800GTS (320Mb), which I bought because it was cheapest, at the time. It has never caused me any troubles, and even came with a game. But, I would like to get your opinions/experiences of the different brands, for exampel in terms of quality, stability, design, performance, warranty and service (maybe in case of RMA) ? Please share your experience, and let me now, what brand YOU prefer, and why. Also, give your vote in the poll above.

I'm slowly leaning towards HIS based on their non-reference cooling designs, but if software is top of your wishlist, ASUS seems to have the upper hand there.

That would have been my first choice SKY but since the whole having Canadian customers pay for RMA debacle they lost me as a customer.

I go with Price, package and reputation.

My most recent buy was a BFG 8800GTS 512. It was the local price of $260.00 that sold me... Nothing else.

All the different vendors are pretty much the same since 99% of them use the reference design, so what it really comes down to is the software and accesories you get with the card, the warranty, and the sticker on the cooler's shroud.

Personnaly I prefer eVGA (Good customer service & Step-Up program :clap or XFX (double life-time warranty and badass black PCB on most cards h34r.

I recently RMA'd my 8800GTS and I didn't have to pay a single dime. :thumb:

I took a look at my local computer stores inventory of Radeon 5850s and of the 6 brands they offer, only the powercolour was still in stock. Some 5850s were even more money then the powercolour, yet those sold first... What does that say.

Preferred = eVGA. Since they don't do ATI I settled for XFX.
