My HX650w is dead.

Tell me how I go for the $150 power supply with the extra surge protection, and then buy a SURGE PROTECTOR for $40, and the PSU still dies on a surge? I coulda got a shitty OCZ PSU and then just had it die when/if I got a surge.. Sigh.

good news, if the rest of the system is fine. good psu = one that takes a lonely dump AND protects your other components from doing the same.

what surge protector you got again? i usually go for the fugly industrial like ones. and having pc lcd etc chain hooked to a ups helps as well.

ups>surge>conditioner>surge?pc. surge before ups if youre mental like me about it.

I just got a belkin surge protector.. I don't care if its not a UPS it should still protect against surges which it did not do.. zz

belkin is ok. i recommend them, when on sale

psu jumper use the green wire and (blk)ground on the latch side of atx power plug to test psu

for start jump those pins some psu require a load to run also eg. old ide HDD

for start botton short out those pins marked on MB</SUP>
