RMA Shipping Question

do you mind telling me how you got a prepaid waybill from corsair? i have to RMA my headset but i don't want to pay $30-40 to ship it to california.. :\

If you cannot get the item paid for by the manufacturer, you can save a lot by driving across the border and shipping it from within the U.S. Prices skyrocket as soon as you hit an international border. There are usually a number of private shipper-receivers who accept packages for the courier companies south of a border crossing these days, but the cheapest option might be USPS.

I can't cross the board so that isn't an option. :P And after gas, and shipping it, and spending 2-3 hours theoretically i would have spent more if i shipped it in the states.

2-3 hours to get to Sumas from Chilliwack? Ouch. Didn't think traffic had gotten that bad out there.

Well, check Canada Post prices, tracking numbers are provided on Expedited parcel posts.

I'm about to head to the CP office to ship it off, i have a CP venture one card, so that should knock $3-4 off the shipping costs. And it's more like 30 mins to get to sumas, 20 at the boarder, 1 hour in the states, and then back so it'd end up to be about 3 hours.

edit: nvm they close at 4PM on sundays -.-

So I just had a look at the online tracking system for my package, and it was updated about an hour ago and now says:

"The commercial invoice is missing and is required for export. Released by clearing agency Now in-transit for delivery"

Like honestly, WTF is UPS doing. :blarg:

An hour to ship a parcel? No reason at all it should take that long, particularly if you print the label out ahead of time. Drive to the post office, hand package to them, drive the six minutes back to the border.

So here's an update for anyone who cares.

As I noted in my previous post, I checked the online tracking last night to find it saying "The commercial invoice is missing and is required for export. Released by clearing agency Now in-transit for delivery". I was rather confused by this as everyone I had talked to up to this point told me it wouldn't be going anywhere until I submitted a commercial invoice. So I called UPS this morning and asked them what this meant. The lady I spoke with was mind boggled by the fact that I needed a commercial invoice, yet it was sent out today to go through US customs and she was insistent on the fact that it wouldn't go through US customs without the commercial invoice. I'm like, okay, whatever, I'll just fax you guys this form so I can get this crap over with and get the package moving. I was planning to go out and fax it tomorrow morning, but I checked my online tracking earlier this afternoon and to my surprise the package cleared US Customs this morning and is now sitting in New York State.

I called UPS after I saw this and kinda ranted to them about the fact that it cleared US customs without the invoice. They ended up transferring me to four different people in four different departments to try and give me an explanation, which ultimately nobody could. I'm not complaining, but it would really be nice if UPS actually knew what they are talking about.

I had to recently do an RMA for my old motherboard and I didn't have to pay anything extra. Just stupid EVGA made me pay for shipping both ways so it was over $60 in shipping! Looks like I won't be going with EVGA again.

Shipping both ways? I have RMA'd stuff with EVGA before and have never had to pay both ways. How did they make you pay both ways? Are you sure it was not some stupid customs fees that got added when they are not supposed to?
