So recently TD disco'd their Td Gold Elite Visa card which i enjoyed having the roadside assistance built in.

I can sign up for it again except now they wont tow to place of my choice but closest shop... which obviously is not ideal.

Anyone having recommendations on the best, and what your paying.

I have done some googling and leaning towards Canadian tire.

why not CAA?

my folks have used them several times in the past...you j ust need to be a card holder, it's not locked down to the vehicle, so they've even used it while out with others who've had a vehicle failure.

and my brother's truck croaked on the way home from a hunting trip and we were in the middle of nowhere (off a hwy, but a hwy in the middle of nowhere) and they sent a truck, picked us up, even drove to where we needed to drop our game off for processing and then several locations in Kamloops trying to find a mechanic that would service the truck.

Yup, that's the real cool part with that membership. Only thing is, you and I are referring to BCAA, so I'm wondering if it's the same in all provinces, i.e. will the OP be able to get the same thing in T.O.?

I can only speak to Alberta, but CAA (AMA for albertans) has been fantastic here, honestly what I save through insurance with them has alone made the card worthwhile, not to mention roadside and registries.

I use BCAA but yeah the insurance savings are worth the membership price. We use them for our travel insurance also again the discount is nice.

Confirmed with Ontario CAA before moving to Alberta last summer that their cards cross provinces. They don't care where you use it, visiting or residential.

Canadian tire is a decent cheaper option. The gold one goes on sale for around $50 a few times a year. I have a BMO Mastercard that includes roadside assistance.

CAA South Western Ontario here.. I have the Plus service which allows the tow to be up to 200 kms away, with basic its only 10kms. Also includes, free delivery and gas if run out, battery boost free, flat tire free, and a few other things as well. Oh yea and it include Motorcycles. Another benefit is that almost every hotel/motel offers a 10 to 15% rate cut if you are a CAA member.

How does that sound to you, could we sign you up now... :)!

Looking for a discount code since I am in a south Ontario for Caa, I drive more then one car so prefer this service compared to Canadian tire. And the ability to take to my own mechanic.
