hey everyone.

recently been troubleshooting some issues with my new ryzen PC and found out that apparently the 7800X3D does not support 4x memory sticks at 6000mhz.
also my motherboard apparently does not support 4x memory sticks from corsair either, only supports 2 from pretty much EVERY brand??

just to test it out i tried enabling EXPO and ran Memtest for an entire test without any errors showing up.

so my question is:
is everyone okay then? are there other stability tests i could try out?
also could there end up being any long term issues?

setup is:

CPU - Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU - Powercolor 7900XTX
MOBO - Asus Rog Strix X670E-A
Ram - Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 CL30 AMD EXPO (4x16gb sticks)

the troubleshooting i have been doing is AMD Adrenalin crashing/timeout primairly during WoW but now i just wanted to make sure i am okay with my ram?

Personally I don't sweat motherboard memory QVL or cpu recommendations, both of which are usually pessimistic or restrictive versus what you can actually use. That being said, 4 sticks always presents more issues than 2 as it is harder on the CPU's memory controller. Personally I would always run 2 sticks unless you have to have more RAM than you can get on 2 sticks.

To confirm, the only problem you are having is with adrenalin while you are playing WoW? That is very specific. No other games or scenarios cause the issue? How are your CPU/GPU temperatures while gaming?

i had bought the 4 stick of ram when i build the PC mostly for the aesthetics so i am kinda stuck with it for now, unless i buy others and sell my current ones.

the whole issue with adrenalin messing up is a very long story, which i am still somewhat looking into, ended up getting a new GPU after having it send back.
had many issues with the 1st card i had gotten like Dying Light 2 not being able to run cutscenes at 60+ fps, first few months of having the card cyberpunk would crash at any RT settings (most likely been fixed with updates not yet fully tested with new card) and other stuff.

the dying light 2 issue was reproduced on my old setup back from 2016, but is not happening now so i assume it was indeed the card.
for now the only issue i have experienced is WoW, but agian while troubleshooting i found out about my ram situation.

EDIT: forgot the temp question.
booted up Borderlands 3 just to pull some quick fresh information
my CPU is cooled by a 360 AIO so it ran around 60-65 package temp, which is monitored on my AIO LCD screen, in AMD Adrenalin it said around 57-60.
GPU was around 57 the entire time running between 55-65% utilization in resource management.

i know that in some games my CPU is push slightly closer to 80 displayed on my LCD screen.
GPU i am not sure how high it has gone, but a game like WoW Classic only uses 30% of my GPU so temp should not be an issue.

also just to mention: alot of people complain about AMD running poorly with WoW, which is what i am troubleshooting now to try and find a fix...
with my 1st GPU it was most games i was troubleshooting.

Thanks for the info. What is the specific issue you are having (total PC lockup, blue screen, shutdown, game crash, etc)?

both Intel and AMD have memory issues if you fill all four DIMM slots. in the case of Intel, DDR5 may drop to as low as 3600mhz, though generally they drop down to 4800mhz. so what I would recommend is dropping the clock speed to 4800mhz and then start working your way up in increments until you start having problems. once there, start adjusting your settings...timings, voltage, etc and see how much higher you can get.

depending on what you're going to do with the PC, more memory at a lower clock speed could be better than less RAM at a higher clock speed.

screen goes black for a little while, still have sound and WoW does not close.
AMD Adrenalin then pops up saying it encountered an error and timed out closing the software down.

then my LCD screen on my AIO goes out aswell, that is pretty much it... restart icue and Adrenalin and it is running agian.
but as mentioned before, many people are having issue with WoW on AMD setups so i am just trying to figure out if there is a fix to this.

the Ram situation is just for safety reason you could say? therefor i am looking for other ways to test if my system is stable running 4 memory sticks and EXPO.

right now i am mostly just looking for more ways to test the system then just Memtest86, since i dont know of that many programs to do this.
if everything passes the test i will just leave EXPO on and see on long term if it starts crashing.

my reason for making this thread was primairly to find programs made to test memory stability when running EXPO or manually setting ram timings/clock etc.
aswell as ask if there could potentielle be any long term issues despite the system being stable, since both my motherboard and Ryzen 7000 series does not "support" 4 memory sticks.

@KBA your motherboard does support 4 sticks...but like I said, when you have 4 sticks installed things get weird and not just for AMD, but also Intel. I just checked your mobo's memory QVL list and searched for RAM compatible across all 4 slots and lots of options came up. the RAM you have isn't on the validated list that can run 6000mhz with 4 sticks...but I see there are a couple, so what I would recommend is make sure your mobo has the latest firmware installed, your CPU has the lastest microcode installed and then set your RAM's timings to 40-40-40-77 with voltage at 1.3v, which is what the 4 validated p/n have for 4 DIMM @ 6000mhz.

AMD for 20+ years and never actually had issues populating all 4 memory slots on any system unless a stick is actually bad then the failures are no-posts and things like that... nothing like what your describing.

What your describing really comes more off as a more general windows/drivers/software issue. iCue crashing isn't uncommon, corsair commander 1gen software was an absolute hot mess for something so expensive etc. Some Acer software on pre-builts causes nothing but crashes, constant 30 minutes before crashing, uninstall acer bloatware and 100% rock solid.

Modern videos cards having audio out over HDMI can even cause issues sometimes and if your not taking advantage of it, worth disabling stuff like that off in device manager.

i do understand this, but what i am also looking for is ways to test wether or not the system is stable.
doesn't really matter how the timings/clock/voltage is set or what they are set to, if the system is not stable.
