discussion Should i do this upgrade for $700...?

ok ill prob keep my quadfire then

BUt one thing im uncertain of is about the Longevity of the X58 Mobo's
if i get a, say EVGA x58 or asus p6t, does that mean i have to get new boards when newer core i7's come out?
like the octa core that is going to come out in a year

Im not sure because even if some CPU's have the same socket the Mobo Chip doesnt support faster versions or smaller nm versions
anyone know about this?

This. If you feel the need to upgrade, then an i7 CPU, Mobo, and Ram should do nicely.

Thats the upgrade I am in the middle of. Sp far have my new Dominator 3 x 2GB Kit, I7 920 n Vista 64 Bit OS sitting here...still awaiting my Evga X58 n True 120 Extreme (of course everything showed "in Stock" until 4 days later then I'm told the Mobo n HSF are not in Stock! Oh well...gets here when iyt gets here...
