ASROCK released a new bios yesterday that supports ram speeds of 7200mhz+ on AM5. There is a buildzoid post, and he was hopeful of getting to 8000mhz.


Then I just skimmed a TPU article that says Gigabyte is also releasing a bios for 8000mhz.


Obviously these speeds will not be supported in a 1:1 ratio or with all motherboards/CPUs, so I will be curious to see future reviews showing the impact of the higher ram speeds (any gains or losses).

The return on higher speed ram above certain points sucks always has. 8000Mhz ram I don't need to look it up to know it will be expensive and just barely beat out lower speed ram especially with latency differences.

What i'm curious about is maybe this is what might make the 3d cache chips really shine. 7800x vs 7800x3D both bumped to 8000Mhz for example might end up with the same copy and paste of poor returns for money spent... or it might really expose further beenfits/weaknesses of the 3d cache.
 
7000 series doesnt need to be 1:1:1 ratio like 5000 series did.

Auto:1:1 is best, so you should still see gains on higher ram. What %? Not sure as there arnt really any benchmarks out for >6000 speeds, as that was the fastest on the market when most reviews were done for 7000 chips.

For now, only select B650 models from ASRock, X670 models from Asus and MSI as well as X670Emodels from Gigabyte and ASRock have received the update, but the new version should be released for all the other AM5 models towards the end of this month.

  • Memory Context Restore option can now reduce power-button-to-desktop times to around 15 seconds
  • Many CPUs can run at least DDR5-6400 1:1 now
  • DDR5-7200 CL32 is easier to achieve, and, depending on silicon lottery, DDR5-7600/7800 and even 8000/8200 speeds can be achieved with a bit of tinkering. Buildzoid showed that an ASRock LiveMixer B650 retailing for US$223 can run DDR5-8000 stably. MSI MEG X670 ACE can run DDR5-7600 OCed to 8200.
  • DDR5 Nitro mode added to allow DDR5-7000 and above compatibility
  • Added settings to let users change behavior of memory training. RAM kits can now be trained for a longer time and get better OC margins and stability.
 
i know right they have been in labs since DDR5 was announced seen very very little on it but knowing they physically exist is enough to hope we see em in next few yrs. we can finally satiate Chromes Hunger:ROFLMAO:
