Star Citizen

Free Fly should be 20 Nov with the annual IAE event, that's 20 Nov - 3 Dec

Disclaimer: server issues may apply with a large influx of new players... ;)

But it has been running extremely well for me lately, so hopefully they can manage the increased load for this event. I expect that the new solar system, Nyx, will struggle. It won't have all its planets in the initial 4.4 release, they are being added in later, but it does have the return of Levski, the settlement in the large asteroid field. It was one of my favourite landing zones when it was originally in game before they removed it to add it to Nyx where it is supposed to be. It looks even more amazing now, but the FPS was taking a hit in the PTU test builds. So we'll see.

Just to follow-up, I played some during the still ongoing IAE event. Performance has been very good for me so they have done much better handling the increased player load this time around. I did have one queue near the beginning of the event where I was 200th in the queue, but I simply cancelled that, rejoined and got my normal 2nd in queue on a different server and then right in game. I haven't had any of the infamous elevator or transit system issues we used to see during big events in the "olden days" :)

Still haven't made my way to the new Levski... it's a bit of a trip but I'll get there! Pretty cool, 11 min real time to quantum jump from where I am in the Stanton system to the Nyx jump gate. Levski is in the new Nyx system. I was messing around with ships (I switched one of my ships to the new Drake Clipper (y) ) and some contracts around my primary residence location this patch, so haven't travelled yet.

Yeah I've been waiting for Live too this time. So much I haven't even done in game yet. Interested to see how implementation of the first version of Engineering goes, and all the ship and weapon changes that go with it. I know they have done a lot of modifications from feedback from Evocati testing right on through to current PTU. And it will go through a lot of changes even after version 1 is in game, all through 2026 I would guess before it matures to what they want.

Their messaging has been that they have tried really hard to focus on it being a "ship life extending" activity rather than just a day-to-day burden to players. They want it to be functional to the vision, but also fun because it is a game after all.

It will significantly change gameplay for multicrew ships though, making that more interesting and adding reason to have crew members beyond just occupying turrets, hopefully without being too much of a burden on solo players.

Good times in SC! :)
