Star Citizen

The number of players has really been saying high the last couple of patches. I've downloaded, ready to go, but no time to play tonight! Argh... :)

I'm tempted to CCU my Zeus Mk II CL to the new Hermes...

I am not sure if this is true all the time . I damaged my ship and got it back to the hanger and stored it . When I relaunched the damage was still there and fuel needed top up. New feature ? :)

No, that has been like that for a while now, and more so since they brought in Engineering in 4.5. The state of your ship is persistent unless you have the station/hanger repair it, or you repair it yourself through the various engineering options.

Ships also have physical wear, paint ages, visual wear and tear, but that has been in game for a while. Not sure how that is supposed to work. Sometimes when you repair at a station if restores it, sometimes not.

It's surprising to me that they still make it sound like this game is not released. This game is released. Perhaps on steam it could have the "early access" tag, but even then I think it's past that stage. It's a live service game full of monetization and anything not released from any original campaign/fundraising pledges is simply a choice by the developers where they invest their time and energy.

This reminds me of when I started playing warframe in 2016. They listed the game as beta status but it was a fully functional AAA game with a crap ton of content. Heck, they still claim the game is in Beta even though in practice it is just a live service game that is fully released and gets regular updates.

It is still "Alpha" in the sense that there are bugs you will encounter, definitely more than you'll encounter when they have it feature complete and ready for 1.0.

But yeah, it's already a full fledged game with lots to do as long as you don't mind the learning curve and the occasional annoying bug, rebalance of gameplay loops as it continues to develop and be tested, updates, occasional wipes, etc. It's definitely my favourite game.
