Star Citizen

It looks like the naysayers have been pretty quiet as of late about this game eh. The server meshing tech is the most impressive thing I got out off Citcon personally. They spent years talking about how it could/couldn't be done and now they're in the homestretch. A pretty elaborate scam/vaporware that has now over 1300 employees across half a dozen studios worldwide.
Golly! I didn't know you were still alive! :) Nice to see you @implosion222

It's been a while eh ? I kind of forgot this site existed to be completely honest. Most of the tech discussions I've had in the past few years has moved on to discord or other platforms. Glad to see people are still keeping this place alive tho.

I'm not a naysayer, but someone who doesn't play the 'long game' with Game development and putting out the kind of ridiculous money some of their packages / fundraisers have asked for.
I know people with thousands invested in something that in 9 Years on here talking about is not quite a game yet.
Sure, they are closing the gap. But you cannot deny that there is no ROI really yet for that kind of capital expenditure , on a game.

And I always check in with the people whom are invested to see how its going. I want to know the when, to then give it a try.

No different than how I treat any other early access game that wants money (with some exceptions, I rolled the Dice on Wartales but that was only like $15 , and it was WELL worth that and more).

IAE 2953 Aerospace Expo Event runs from 17 - 30 Nov 2023, and with that Star Citizen is free-to-play for that period. Details at the link and worth reviewing to understand how the event works and what ships are accessible when:

I'm always hesitant to bring this up as the huge influx of players usually borks the servers, but it has been better in recent years. It is a great time to have a look around without spending any money up front. Find out if Star Citizen is for you or not at this stage.

Just expect the first few days could be... a little bumpy ;) Or maybe I'll be completely wrong on that this year! That would be lovely.

IAE is always a great time in Star Citizen lol. Learn to not use the train and it isn't so bad to get to the exhibition.
Elevators have been bonkers in the past too, but that hasn't happened too much.

I remember the IAE a couple years ago when the trains stopped working. Players in game started using their smalls ship, Pisces I believe, as a taxi service to ferry people from the space port to the convention centre in New Babbage. "Emergent" game play as they say...Ha! players compensating for bugs, but it was actually a pretty cool experience. It was neat watching 3-4 Pisces come in land, load up players and take off into the night.

FYI, currently the game installed is around 100 GB.
Pffft that's nothing 😅 GTA5 and Warzone are far bigger... (no really that's huge haha)

It would be almost impossible to get my main PC ripped apart, the parts used with an awkward case that's in pieces all over the place, and toss it all together, add parts to my driving sim cockpit... ya I don't think I can make this happen... 🤕😬😓

Got any inspiring words to convince me to do more work in two days than I've probably done in months? HAAaaa....
