Hey,

I believe there's a grounding issue in my system as when i use teamspeak my clan mates say they can hear a buzzing noise in the background coming from my system.

Also now all of a sudden im getting massive static interference through my headphones even when not playing any music or anything..at first i thought my headphones were dying but ive tried another pair..same thing.

Also a few days back i remember when i was plugging in a USB when i put my head back behind the case my ear touched the back of the side panel and i could feel a slight shock..and if you touch the back panel with say a USB cable you see a slight spark. :D

What can i do to get this case grounded?

My sound setup

Xonar D1 sound card (PCI)
Little Dot 1+ Amp with Ground Loop Isolator.
Plantronics Headphones (getting decent headphones soon)

Appreciate any help. :thumb:

Hi,Thanks for your reply.

Place i live in is around 10-12 years old,So fairly modern...and not sure if it makes much if a difference but i have my pc connected through a Surge protected Extension. :)

Have you tried unplugging all of your USB devices one at a time to see if the issue goes away?

Something else I've come across (although it was with an older system) was an issue with an external HDD enclosure that caused every exposed metal piece on the motherboard to be live... I never measured it with a meter, but it was less than a 9V battery so I always suspected it was 5V.

The system continued to run, but it was quite disconcerting to get a mild shock every time I touched it. :)

Yup,The only USB device i have plugged in right now is my mouse and unplugging that the noise is still there...its constant buzzing now with the noise as what i can only explain as a "Tearing paper" noise.

Il open the system up tomorrow and reseat my sound card to see if this makes any difference.

Unless you spent a good fortune on that it could be as well a source of the issue. Also what powersupply are you running and are you using a heavy or light guage power cord?

headset plugged in USB v2.0 port or v3.0 ?

I'd check the back I/O tangs aren't shorted in a USB or other ports

might try to reseat CPU

can try a 1/8 plug mic to see if noise gone

i wouldn't rule out a lousy Microphone, or simply not having the 3mm audio jack pressed firmly into the audio port... i see it all the time.
