so it wasn't a gust of wind that caused the plane to flip....it was more of a roll over after a hard landing. looks like the landing gear collapsed, something exploded and when the body of the plane experienced friction, cause it to roll over.

check the video showing that here...scroll down a bit though:

That sink rate looked kind of high and the hard landing caused the gear to collapse. Once the wing touched the ground, it basically got rip off or the main gear got pushed into the wing which contained the fuel tanks. By law you need at least 30 to 45 minutes of fuel by the time you reach the airport in case you need to divert so it's probably carrying more than that. Once you lose one wing, you immediately get lift asymmetry which I suspect contributed to the roll even if the reverse thrust + auto brake are active as you still have forward movement to generate lift over the wing. (I have a basic private pilot license so take my comment with a huge rock of salt).

Yeah it will be interested to hear the official response, but the video definitely makes it look like a hard landing that collapsed the right main (first wheels to touch down), which put the right wing into the ground…

We will see what the data and other evidence supports though, as angles can be deceiving.

Watching from a few different clips, they came in very hard. Also looks like there was no lifting of the nose, flaring, to reduce speed. As for why at this point we just don't know, could be many issues.

All I can say is that I'm glad that nobody has died (3 in critical I hear though), cause that could have been way worse.

This is pretty much why I keep telling people to wear shoes (not crocs or flip flops) and long pants while flying. Always count how many rows of seats are between you and the exit. Once the smoke is in the cabin, you can't see stuff and the reflective tape on the floor may not even be visible.

my buddy in Florida only wears flipflops...but the ones he buys are 'spensif. he even wears them with his dress clothes when he has to go to events, unless his grams whips him into order.
