Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, 2x Noctua P12's and A/C MX-2 gets you this!

I have VERY recent experience that was similar to this with crap results (last week).

My e2180 went from 2.0 to 2.7 on stock volts, but took 1.48 volts Vcore to get to 3.0, and it wasnt even orthos stble there.

So just because it goes up 20% easily doesnt mean it'll do 21% at all...

but yeah, I am reaching for as high as I can go here...

looks like a nice E6750 though

Yea I guess once you hit the wall thats it really. It seems that "top" stock (1.35) gives you a pretty good idea of where the chip will get to..after that.........

Anyway I think 3.6 at 1.35 is do-able, thats where I am right now although Im close to 60oc after running Orthos so Ive never gone higher.

Your cooling is better than mine (scythe with 1 fan) so you should get higher. There are quite a few reports of these chips breaking through 3.8 now without too much effort....especially on P5KE boards:biggrin:

here's to hoping!

Check out that sexy all copper ninja on the NCIX sale page, the fixed the heatpipe spacing on it as well, geekpr0n

yea the sythe ultra copper looks nice

Yes i saw that earlier and was wondering how much better it performs. I hope they have a backplate for it as i dont like the push pins when using the heavier NF-P12 fans.

Ive got another NF-P12 coming and I think the heat-sink will just fall out the board!

E6400 stock clocked.
With the stock intel cooler, she ran at 39C idle
With the TRUE and a single YL Im down to 28C

Room temp is 22C and until I get my new case stand, my P180 is 4 inches from the baseboard heater. So 6C over ambient being extremely close to a heat source, Im pleased.

After a few days the thermal compound should settle and a consistent temp should be obtainable.

hmm i was thinking of getting ultra 120 with noctuas for the e8400. but i noticed noctua has the NH-U12P. saves me a bit of cash, would there be much performance difference ?
