I need to find a Thunderbolt cable that can transmit 4K @ about 2M. I've been looking at a lot of the active ones but boy are they expensive. Does it matter if I don't need charging capabilities as I'm going to be using this through a laptop dock?

This is for a HP laptop that will be connected through their Thunderbolt docking station. I'm running that out to a Gigabyte M34WQ which has a built in KVM. The DisplayPort and USB A will be going to my gaming machine.
gotcha...so the cable I showed is what you need to get. that is an expensive cable, but it's not as bad as they can be...some of them are like $120USD or more!!!
