Toronto Roofing Companies

They don't seem to have the greatest of reviews though, just because they carry Holmes' name doesn't make them any better :haha:

But I guess I could get a quote from them too.

We ended up going with Canadian Roofing Company.

They had a good quote, fully explained the process and work involved, and overall quite thorough and friendly. Better than all the other sales people that came out. He's also an East York'er (where I live), so at least I'm supporting a family-run local business too.

Thankfully the roofing portion isn't contracted out, he has his own employees. Only part that is contracted is the aluminum work which is understandable. He said he's been using the same guy for years though without any issues.

Total price is a bit under $9000 after taxes. That's stripping the roof, replacing any rotted boards (100ft included), removing the chimney, 6ft of ice/water shield (everyone else was only doing 3ft), synthetic paper on remaining portion, adding 7 vents, IKO Cambridge shingles, refacing the front gable with vinyl siding, and all new fascia/evaestroughs.

Thankfully, he takes all major credit cards too, something most companies seem to avoid doing, so that adds a bit of protection should something go wrong. Definitely not comfortable giving people $9k in cash/cheque. Also, no deposit needed either, so really, it should be worry free.

I'll post some pictures once it's all said and done. He hopes to do it within the next 2 weeks, but obviously it depends on the weather.

hope all was said is written on quote

note the 100ft is 10x10=100 sq.ft is will cover up to that

after you pay over the 100 for sheets

Yeah it's all there in writing.

10x10 is still a ton of lee way. Most companies only included 10 sqft.

Poked my head in the attic and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Everything looks fine. I doubt much wood if at all will need replacing.

He walked the entire roof too, to make sure he didn't fall through in any spots ;) Only one other estimator went up on the roof for that matter. Rest just eyeballed it from the ground.

So they came out on Friday and did the roof and then the aluminum guys showed up on Saturday. No complaints with the actual roofers, which was Canadian Roofing Company, but the aluminum guys that they contract out to were a bit problematic. Didn't cover up anything so they ended up putting a small dent in our front window casing, chipped the Stone Effects stuff on our porch (I think from their ladders), and there's a ton of debris scattered all in the yard. They also just showed up out of the blue at 9AM on a Saturday morning (we were in bed sleeping) so it was a rude awakening. At the very least they could have called the night before. Otherwise though, they did good work and it looks quite nicely finished. Their customer care is just lacking.

Thankfully the roofers were great. They took extreme care and fully tarped everything and were even friendly enough to take our camera up and take pictures on the roof while they were working.

Quite the transformation! Hopefully it lasts for many, many years to come. I'd definitely recommend Canadian Roofing Co. to others. On a whole, everything was completed as initially agreed upon, I just wish the aluminum contractors would have been a bit more careful to the property.
