Yeah I was considering getting some of those threaded ones to try. Right now I'm waiting for a nice little surprise that should help keep things a tiny bit cooler than now. Better fans, and a slightly longer tube res. Current 1 is only 140.

Going to 200. Simply not enough coolant in the system imho. Perhaps a 2nd res as well or 1 more 480 and fans or both....

Fans are about the same at 107-108/fan but 20% quieter. Won't need to wear ear muffs and plugs anymore, just 1 or the other...

A bit more fluid for the system in the res to help with cooling. Maybe I'll rig up an extra case fan to cool it as well, I have so many kicking around...lol.

Still have to put my Lancool controller in...

Almost forgot, hoping to Step Up with both the 970 FTW and the X99 FTW to a 980 and the Classified.:thumb:

Been getting stuff for my home theater the last little while. A fair amount of buying and selling but have finally found the speakers I'm going to keep for a very long time (as long as the bug doesn't hit me again). I was lucky enough to get a pair of Angstrom Alpha-80's that were hot-rodded by the Angstrom engineer. Can't get luckier than that really. While I was talking to him I asked where they would be in the current lineup (I already have most of the Modular speakers), and he said they would be better than anything they currently had. Can't beat that for $700 :)

That isn't my picture and they don't look like much but man they sound amazing. Of course it helps when you have Scanspeak drivers :)

Also picked up a GAS - Son Of Ampzilla which is a great score. Thanks once again to the Angstrom engineer as he was talking to me about amazing sounding vintage amps that weren't going for a lot of money.

That's actually my picture. I'll be bringing it in to get recapped and looked over. Meters need to be fixed etc.

Lastly is a pair of UPA-1 monoblocks that I sort of got for free. I traded it for a 40% off card for Emotiva (restrictions apply of course). These little guys put out 200w into 8 ohms and 300w into 4 ohm.

I've sold my monster UPA-7 that's served me so well but it's time to play with some other gear. As you can see though I only have 4 channels instead of 5 so I'll be looking for another power amp of some kind in the next little while.

I have an old pr of Cerwin Vega Bookshelf speakers S1s. They only weigh about 60 lbs each. Throw a plank across the top of the 2 and you have a bookshelf...lol 100w/ but with the bass turbo boost, 200w. Never used it, didn't need it.

top left looks like mine.

Bought these in '79, had them refoamed in 2002 I think. Had a Cerwin Vega place do them, and they put new voice coils, pcbs, still kicking butt!

A cpl of ladies did a dance or 2 on them...:thumb:

For me, sound is very important, clean, clear and crisp. I'm sure there are much better out there but these came from a time when Cerwin Vegas were top dogs along side Altec Lansings.

Recording studio rated stuff att.
