Whats your latest purchase?

Probably should have had a potato in the photo eh... I HATE pealing potatoes because every single peeler I've used sucks. My wife has purchased dozens of pretty much the same garbage. Blade falls off, blade spins, blade falls off, blade spins, rinse and repeat.
It does produce a very nice thin uniform looking peel! :)

if the blade is falling off, you're using far too much pressure. ours will do that from time to time, but only if I'm pressing so hard the limb flexes and allows one side to pop out. that or you're buying shit peelers, and your wife needs to anty up the wallet and get something solid. look at Oxo, they're products are pretty solid.

Yeh, my wife really gets annoyed when the kids dont peel the blemishes off. :ROFLMAO:

I've never seen a modern day version of that for the home. I've seen pictures of 50's / 60's hand crank ones presumably designed for peeling apples for canning, but the only potato peelers I've seen have been the big drum ones we used in the military mess kitchens.
Peeling potatoes with a machine in the military?!?! C'mon the movies have taught me that all military potatoes are peeled by hand as punishment for errant privates ;)

There aren't enough privates on KP duty to peel enough potatoes to supply a training command Jr Ranks kitchen. :) (I should know, done it enough times.... ;) )

No, I refuse. I hate all hand held potato peelers equally. :-D

Okay fine. I'll comment on potato peeling too.

In our house I peel potatoes using a vegetable peeler and my wife peels using a paring knife. In general she is much more proficient with the knife than I am, but I still end up getting more consistent peel removal thickness most of the time! ;) Not to mention the peeler is considerably safer imo. A peeling machine of any kind never even occurred to me.
