Rants etc.....

Not really a Rant, more just a general observation....

It never ceases to amaze me how much cheaper many items are when ordered from B&H even after exchange rates + duty is factored in.

Currently looking at a pair of 2.5G MoCA adapters (I want to move one of my APs to the main floor) and it's $60 cheaper from B&H than the best deal I can find from a Canadian source. $192 vs $251(before taxes) is a crazy differential in pricing.

And the deed is done. B&H also has the honour of being the only online retailer I've ever dealt with who closes shop (they don't take orders) out of respect for their weekly religious day of rest. (In their case it's the Shabbat).

I'm not a particularly religious person myself, but I have a lot of respect for folks who walk the walk instead of just paying lip service.

Finished the first room's taping in the basement on Satuday. When I went to Alberta drywall they gave me a free roll of fibafuse with the tub of jointing mud;

I had never used the stuff before but it looks like it's a lot stronger than the shitty 'grid' fiberglass tape. What they don't tell you is that because it's likely CSM fiberglass it sheds fibers like crazy. My pants were shimmering more than a Liberace outfit and I've got so many fiberglass splinters in my hands :S

Worked well and is pretty forgiving, but I think I may go back to paper tape for the other rooms.

Fiberglass splinters... *shudder*... I hate that! I remember when I was a teenager working on a boat with Dad and I got them in the underside of my upper arms. I don't even know how. I crawled up and leaned on something I guess. Every time my arms moved it was very annoying (and painful)!!

Maybe you are supposed to use those sort of "pre-load" tape holders that mud the tape entirely for you?
