From my understanding it works both ways. Keeps the heat out in the summer and the warmth in, in the winter. It made a massive difference for us. 10 degree drop in the summer months.

One other thing I bought over the last couple years that has drastically helped with the ambient temperature in the house is one of those small 10ft x 10ft canopies. Was only like $100 because of when I bought it. I didn't tint to sliding doors leading to the deck because of the one dogs still jumps and paws at the sliding door, not convinced the tint would last. So I put up the canopy to shade that door in the summer, just put a few screws into the deck to hold the frame. I take the canvas down in the winter. Was like 3-4'c cooler in that room the very next day and is southern exposure.
I looked at building a proper peragula type structure half mounted to the housr but in Edmonton there is a bunch of permit restrictions to being able to do it properly and going through all of that when I need to paint the siding, and tweak the deck some to make it worthwhile the canopy works as a great intern solution until I'm ready to do those other jobs

Bought one of those super cheap pineapple core/slicer and am amazed at how well it worked.

Not mentioned in the product description but it also came with a smaller core tool for apples/pears which works decently as well.
I don't think there's much difference between the cheap ones. If you step up with extra cash I believe there are ones out there with different sized cutting heads for larger/smaller pineapples, but this one seemed fine for what looks to be an average sized one.
Interesting gadget, does it end up wasting more than cutting it by hand though since not every pineapple is the same size? This looks like it would leave a lot on the "edges" of the skin if it was a bigger pineapple?
Here is a weird one, grabbed a DeWalt lawn edger. The idea of using the little stomp on edger when I still have issues from the accident decided that a power assist would be nice. Devoured 12Ah worth of batteries but got it done with less effort than usual. I'm pretty sure next time I do it won't take nearly as long let alone more than a single battery but I didn't stay on top of it very well last year.
