Plex Pass Lifetime increasing to $750USD

That's an absolutely crazy number considering there's not a lot that it does which can't be done with Jellyfin.

Does anybody actually want the live streaming service they're trying to push as the bonus you get from a paid app?

No. I just wanted it for intro skip and being able to easily stream externally for my sister.

Intro skip works maybe 50% of the time.

There is a skip plugin for jellyfin which seems to work reasonably well, and tailscale seems to work for a limited number of "subscribers" (that's improved a bit over the last year), although it is arguably not what I'd call plug/play.
 
I get that software development is costly, especially if they are using AI (token prices keep increasing), but a $500USD price jump is pretty insane...

I guess my $75USD lifetime from 2014 is a pretty good value then... I don't even use Plex though. I've used Emby longer now I think which was $119USD in 2019...

That price jump is wild. Makes those older lifetime purchases look like insanely good value now.
