What's the return policy for laptops at NCIX? Specifically, I'm looking to return the MSI GX640 I bought at the Markham grand opening. I called on Sunday and the lady told me I believe it was 15 days to return and that it has to be brand new and sealed in box. However she didn't mention a restocking fee or anything like that.

I'm trying to call NCIX @ Markham, but no one's picking up for some odd reason

Thanks.

Restocking fee is 15% and generally only applied if the item has been opened. With laptops that pretty much consists of the security seal being opened on the outside box.

What's wrong with the MSI notebook if you don't mind me asking?
I assume you are talking about this one: NCIX.com - Buy MSI GX640-260US Intel Core i5 450M 4GB 500GB 15.4IN WSXGA+ Radeon HD5850 Windows 7 Premium Notebook - GX640-260US In Canada.

It looks like a pretty ridiculously little gaming machine for just over $1000, heck you can barely build a desktop for that price.

I think this is what your looking for:

NCIX.com offers a 15-day Satisfaction Guarantee on many items that we sell. Due to supplier and manufacturer restrictions, some opened items will be non-refundable, and any return is subject to prior approval from NCIX.com. Items that are unopened and still in its original shrink wrap and sealed, can be returned without restriction, within 15 days of purchase, unless marked as unreturnable. All items returned to us must be shipped pre-paid.
Items eligible for return are subject to a 15% restocking fee, and if approved by NCIX.com would be eligible for exchange, merchandise credit or refund. Due to the volatile nature of computer prices, items will only be refunded at the current pricing at the time of return. Software must be in its original box and unopened (still sealed in its original shrink wrap). Defective software will be exchanged with the same title (subject to availability).
Satisfaction Guarantee excludes CRT monitors, LCD monitors, netbooks, notebook computers, mobile PCs, mobile phones, PDAs, printers, consumables (i.e. printer cartridges, CD-Rs, and blank media), televisions, consumer appliances (i.e. microwaves, refrigerators, etc.), customized computers, mouse pads and special order items.

as far as i remember you get hit the 15% unless its their fault for shipping the wrong item or you have a big mouth, either or.

if you still have time, see if you can let it go locally, watch out who you deal with there was another thread with some fellow forum member running after the bastuge

Dunno if you saw the other threads, but basically it sums down to two words: Battery life. It seems that the battery lasts for only around 2 hours, which is definitely a problem when I'm attending lectures in university. It's not like I'm living on residence either since I got rejected from Waterloo, forcing me to go to Ryerson

That's what I'm confused about. It's still brand new and sealed. Plus there's the exclusion in the policy, blah blah. So confusing!

Just send in a ticket or request callback.

If you do fall under the 15% restocking category, a nice guy might help you out with waiving it completely or reducing it.

There was a thread on NCIX about this a while back. I think you don't have to pay restocking fee as long as your item isn't opened. But please double check and tell us the results.

As long as it's sealed, it can be returned for a 100% refund I believe. Just make sure you're within the 15 day policy.

Any time I've returned something unopened, I haven't been charged a restocking fee. But I always take it back to the store, and don't phone in. It also might have to do with the volume of sales on my account. :)

I highly recommend the Asus UL30/UL80 'VT' series if you want good battery life. I'm getting 10 hours on mine in 'saver' mode with WIFI on and running MS office. 6 hours in entertainment mode (3-4 DVD's!), and about 3 hours gaming (!!:shok:!!). The UL30 is 13.3" no DVD burner, the UL80 is 14" with a burner. Both run the same price, give or take, about $750-800 bucks. I'm removing my burner and drive caddying it for a 2nd 640gig hard disk, and SSD boot.:thumb:

Love this puppy.
