3D Printer / CNC discussion thread

Yeah it works for supports just some things it misses out on like what I mentioned with the TPU. I actually have a spool of conductive TPU meaning I can embed contact paths inside a print and I could do it with the other one but not this variant.

Well CNC Kitchen review says it also has a heated chamber, which is definitely a plus.

I want to continue to use OrcaSlicer, so that means I'll have to use the printer in LAN mode only. Which means no Bambu Handy app. Which is mostly fine except I do like getting notifiations on when printer as an issue or is done a print. I've found a Home Assistant plugin. Hopefully that will work for my needs.

Got X2D yesterday, definitely should have bought the filament switcher, so I don't need to swap spools between AMS and the external spool holder. And of course it is now OOS.

Also was hoping I could design a drybox to be used on the X2D for the external spool holder. But it doesn't seem to be the case, at least not easily. Looked at AMS HT prices or a 2nd AMS for it. Damn, standalone prices are just wild!

So now looking at other solutions for a drybox. What are people using for dryboxes that can be printed from?

Space pi was cheap for that purpose

Mostly got printer area cleaned up. Still need to do some filament storage .

Haven't printed anything yet on it. Currently using printer as a filament dryer. The AMS dryer seems so half baked. Max 24 hours at a time? That ain't drying out shit. TBH besides seeing levels of filament, I see no real improvements over my AMS Lite.

Have since removed the PLA as I don't trust this. Claims chamber heater is 46C, yet heated bed is 60C with it being off. Using IR temp gun, i see temps around 55C inside.

Yeah, that's a bit weird that the bed is reporting 60c in spite of not having active heating. Does the chamber heat source blow directly on the bed?

edit: That sure is a purty plate.... :)

I'm not sure where the thermistor for the chamber heater is, but it seems wildly inaccurate.

Was SO close to pulling trigger on an a Sovol SH02 filament dryer yesterday. They were $90. But got side tracked. Open laptop today and the Comgrow SH02 (exactly the same), is down to $73. So ordered one of those for the 2nd extruder. I don't like how it feeds filament from the upper front. But I'll have to manage.

Definitely clear the chamber heater sensor is reading low. Both hotends and bed all read 5C warmer.

I've got the part cooling fan and 'filter' fan, which is on recirculation mode, at 100%. Then exhaust fan at 10% to extract some of the moisture.

Should work good as a filament dryer I think.
