New case causing major problems (Fixed)

Ok, the problem is officially fixed. I took the board out of the case one more time to triple check if it would boot, and it did no problem. Went back into the case and took a look around and found that a spacer for a different size motherboard was pushing against the bottom of the board, once...

    8gig DDR3 with a Q6600 an upgrade?

To make a long story short, I turned my motherboard into a paper weight. In the end, there are really two options. Option one is to buy a cheap used board and use my 4GB of 800MHz DDR2 and my Q6600. Around $30. Option two is to buy a DDR3 motherboard and 8GB of DDR3 1333MHz and my Q6600...

New case causing major problems (Fixed)

I have, and it worked previously but I doubt it will now. I have a couple of tests left before anything goes to the recyclers though.

New case causing major problems (Fixed)

No, but I have a friend that should. Either is cheaper than the GPU or CPU I guess. May just be the excuse I need to move to this DDR3 thing I hear the kids talking about these days. Thanks everyone for the hand. Much appreciated.

New case causing major problems (Fixed)

Tried the naked boot. Same problem. It gets as far as making a kind of buzzing sound and spins the fans, and then shuts off and does it again a couple seconds later. Seems to be dieing a little more every time I test something heheh.

New case causing major problems (Fixed)

I think it was a four beep pattern. It has stopped making it, and now powers on for about a second and a half and then resets.

New case causing major problems (Fixed)

Ok, so long story short it wasn't the graphics card. I removed everything from the case and got it to boot, put it back in and it didn't. I noticed that my pci cards were on the desk when I got the system to run, took them out and it worked.... and then promptly froze. The headache continued...

New case causing major problems (Fixed)

Should have thought of that myself, but alas didn't heheh. Thanks for the reply, I'll give it a test outside the case tomorrow and see what happens. After that, I'll snap some pictures.

New case causing major problems (Fixed)

Hello all, I received a new case today and was very excited. I transferred all my hardware over and was very careful to make sure I plugged everything back in where it was before. Upon starting the computer, I had no signal going to my monitor. After powering down and triple checking all my...

Will a new GPU be a big enough jump?

Aiming for a quite PC and have heard great things about both the MSI Hawk and Cyclone. Are there any out there that are quieter that I should be looking into? Heard a bit about the Gigabyte, but the MSI sounds a bit more promising.

Will a new GPU be a big enough jump?

Waiting on a paycheck on Jan 15th and will grab one. The one I want wont be on sale by then, but I am sure I can find a good deal in the new year. Rest of the system is built or on order and I can't wait!! Thanks again all.

want to get my first SSD

Bit late to add this, but I thought I would mention it anyway as I was looking into the exact same thing as the original poster. Last night I ordered a boxing week special 2tb off of ncix for $80, and they offered a Vertex 2 60gb with it for 99.99, or 79.99 after mir.

    HDTV for X360 37"-42"

There's nothing wrong with the U2, but I have found that the S2 is just worth the extra cost. At least on the settings out of the box it seems to give a much better picture.

    HDTV for X360 37"-42"

The downscaling they mention just means that a 1080P signal can be excepted, but is downscaled to 720P. Are you going to run blu-ray movies on it? If so, I would go for the S2. If not, get an X2.

    HDTV for X360 37"-42"

Remember that although the Xbox360 can put out a 1080p signal, the games themselves are almost all 720p (if I recall correctly). The PS3 can handle "true" 1080p games, but most for it are made in 720p as they were made originally for the 360. Edit (if you do go to Visions ask for the X2...

Will a new GPU be a big enough jump?

Well, I was going to come on and say that I am sticking with my card for a while, but a co worker just gave me $80 for it so I think I'll order a new GTX 460 this week heheh. See what boxing day brings. Edit: Playing on a 46" 1080p Samsung at the moment, and aiming for a new 720p 3D projector...

    Adore plasma but.... (G25 thoughts)

Remember that you are more than likely seeing them all in vivid mode. It's my pet peeve at work. We pull the TVs out and set them to store mode, and there goes the picture quality. This works a bit both ways as LCD/LED tvs tend to be way to bright, where plasmas exaggerate their black levels...

Will a new GPU be a big enough jump?

I went quad core because I use this computer for Cubase and other audio programs that are optimized for multiple cores. I agree that two cores is better for games by a long shot.

Will a new GPU be a big enough jump?

Hello all, I'm finenaly finishing my computer build. What happend was I started building it a while ago, and then ran out of money and whatnot... you know how it goes. Long story short, the system will be a bit out dated but should be a big increase from my current set up. My bottle neck has...
