3D printing pics

This has been a beast to print, it was a lot easier to print the 4U mount for the motherboard/power supply that will accompany this. When I have time to actually swap the hardware from my existing home server to this and the 4U motherboard mount I'll take some more pictures.PXL_20260415_165356746.webp

Here is the printed combo together

On my To Do List:
Buy a patch panel
Buy shorter cables
Wire up the power button to the motherboard
Replace the existing 2-Port SAS Card to a 4-Port one in order to be able to use all 12 bays or at least not care what bay I slide a drive into
Get some higher static pressure fans so I can keep my drives closer together, right now the case fans I have don't push enough
Find/print some rack mounting solutions for my random peripheral stuff, including seeing if I can't get the Bell Giga Hub into rather then on top of the rack.
Modify a Pi 4 3.5" hard drive bay mount to fit a pi 5 so I can keep it in an unused bay.

This is 19"?

I'm assuming it's stitched together in some fashion as a 19" panel wouldn't fit on a typical print bed?

Yes this is 19"

They both had to be printed in sections. The 4U one has a bunch of small issues that people have asked to be fixed (such as not needing glue to stick the two portions together).

The 3U Drive Bay printed in 5 major parts (if you include the 2 not seen 120 fan mounts to allow you to blow or pull air over the drives.

Well, I've been putting my new P1S through its paces a bit, and it's ended up being more silly stuff than useful pieces, but it's been entertaining. Printed a bunch of stuff for the kids, and a couple of things for me.

Looks like it's spitting out some decent quality prints!

Was that Gandalf printed in a single colour and painted afterwards, or is that a multi-colour print?

I'm amazed at the kind of quality it seems to be capable of--and that's without even dropping to a .02 nozzle. Tree supports and upping the distance between the support and the model have been incredible game changers, too.

Gandalf was all white, originally. My oldest is into D&D and has recently taken up painting minifigures for his campaign. He's just starting on his base colours for it, so far, but he wanted to see how well it painted with an eye to printing, rather than buying, his minifigures. I would guess there are still some things that will be better bought or done on a resin printer, but again, I'm pretty pleased with the output.

Oddly enough, the only multi-colour prints I've done so far are on the little weight model, as each weight has its weight and brand on the one side in a contrasting colour. It just seems to waste a crazy amount of filament for the layer switches. That said, I've still enjoyed the hell out of having the AMS, if only for dry storage and ease of printing different colour plates. I've also found printing by object, rather than layers, to do multiple pieces in different colours all on one plate, and that's been pretty handy for things like the vault boy (all the small stuff was on one plate).
