5800X3D vs 5600X - Upgrade?

That's not really worth it for a $429+tax investment.

I'll keep on trucking with the 5600x, and consider a platform upgrade in a years time (or so). Perhaps when the Ryzen 9000 series is released.

Don't you hate getting talked out of an upgrade though? That has happened to me (wisely) so many times on here :)

Very much, lol. I was excited to go buy a new CPU. The wife will be happy though. She wasn't terribly impressed when I upgrade the video card and case right before Xmas.

I had he 5600x ran those games easily but I got the bug and was thinking upgrading to the 5800x3d but stopped myself after watching a few video reviews on it apparently the 7600 is almost the same as the 5800x3d, but it is also newer so I built a new system using the 7600 non x and that thing was great, I ran it for a few months but then the 7800x3d went on sale so I swapped it out for the 7800x3d, now after all that said I notice little change between the 5600x and the 7600 and 7800x3d but when I load test look at the numbers there is a pretty large difference but gameplay wise I dont notice much , I also am using the rx6800xt vid card .
so I would suggest just upgrade to the 7600 like I did buy some ran that is around 6000Mhz and I am thinking you're good to go for a few years

If somebody's running an older X570 with a 3000 series chip, it sounds like a decent upgrade. The 5600x seems to be able to keep up with even the 7600x in GPU limited situations...
 
5600x is the best bang for the buck. 5800X3D really shines with higher-end GPUs and higher resolutions such as 1440p and 4K.

I'm actually going to disagree with that statement. I spent all yesterday morning poring over reviews and graphs. From what I read, at 4k resolution, most systems are GPU bound, and upgrading the CPU hardly made any difference. This is exactly where I'm at right now - I'm gaming at 4K, and my 3090 is capable of pushing out 50fps. Upgrading to a 5800X3D would not change this, as I'm GPU limited at 4K.

I believe the real benefit is for somebody gaming at 1080P (or 1440P) who wants as many fps as possible, because they're running a high refresh monitor. In that situation, what I found from reviews is that the 5800X3D DOES provide a significant benefit in the form of increased FPS.

You are on point, pretty decent step-up from 5600x to 5800x3d in terms of performance at both 1080p and 1440p.

But I will stand my ground and mention that 5600X is a pretty decent CPU for budget gaming at 1080p that still delivers very competitive performance for the price (~$150CAD).
