Nothing official, I doubt he has been fired, but it appears that he has finally been muzzled.

For those who don't know, AMD_Roy (who actually used to work at nVidia), has been a very outspoken (and often flat out wrong) voice for AMD over the years. Most recently, he has made some very controversial posts on twitter about the Nano and what review sites got samples to review. Such as:

And here is a bit more back story about AMD_Roy on HardOCP:

HARDOCP - No Nano? No Problem! - AMD, Roy Taylor, the Nano, and the Press

Well, a strange thing just happened. His Twitter feed is now dead. Was he fired? Was he muzzled because the new Radeon Technology Group no longer wants his PR nightmares? Who knows.

Maybe he decided that twitter wasn't the format for him? The short length format lends itself to the same pitfalls as political talking points.... if what you want to say doesn't fit into a quick soundbite you often end up with something that either isn't clear or isn't factually correct because you truncated the message.

Trust me, Twitter was the perfect format for him. He loved it and was a prolific poster.

He simply told the truth as AMD and likely other companies see it. He simply vocalized what other haven't. Withholding samples from some sites was a shot across the bow for everyone in the industry.

Yup, if Twitter wasn't for him, he had to be the dumbest person on the planet, because he used it for YEARS and he just realized it's limitations?

AMD_Roy was no PR person (as we have grown accustomed to in a free and open society), that is obvious.

I mean he couldn't even try to hide behind the lie that there weren't enough samples for reviewers, because, at least here in the states, Newegg has good supply of them. So the argument that they couldn't free up 3 of them (one for HardOCP, Tech Review, and Tech Power Up) has been shown to not be the case.

r9 nano - Newegg.com

(All the Nano's are in stock ... pretty much no one is buying them for $650+)

It's not the first time he's made comments on Twitter that lack tact - since his employment in AMD there have been many such moments. I've said it elsewhere but I wouldn't be surprised if he was hired specifically to stir up things on social media outlets, because it seems to have been his primary objective thus far. This is the first time there was significant backlash though. If this is really a vocalization of the internal frustrations of AMD (quite likely), they are in serious trouble. This is not where effort should be spent.

I can only imagine the delight Nvidia PR is feeling through the Nano launch. It's almost as of Roy is still working for them.

Roy did call both Techreport and [H] and apologize subsequent to the [H] article, as discussed in the thread linked to the article.

Wow, first Kitguru, now HardOCP! AMD is in denial! "Fair" reviews! I thought reviews ought to be accurate, not fair!
