AMD's about to release another SIX Ryzen 5000 APU.

Why? Aren’t these all the same as already existing products? I do t see the differences off hand.

EDIT: some apparently have different iGPU speeds, but otherwise they seem to be identical. Might be a packaging/cooler revision or change?

Often using old fabs allows for a burst of inventory that might be struggling in certain markets or price points. Think large internet cafe in asian markets looking for high volume / low cost machines for example.

But if they make any kind of tweak or optimization can't really list it as the old sku since it isn't technically the same thing.

That is atleast my guess of why these are being manufactured.

this is AMD using the entire Zen3 lineup to act as their budget / entry-level solution...rather than having Zen4 / 5 Ryzen 3 options. I think...

I thought product model ending with 05 is suppose to be a performance model? I guess the iGPU being a tad faster qualifies? Great chips for those still running 1K, 2K, and 3K CPU.

I haven't heard that bit about the 05 meaning it's a performance model before and looking at the specs for the 5700G, they seem to be identical to the ones for the 7505G....3.8ghz stock, 4.6ghz boost, 16MB L3 and Vega 8 GPU. there was no info about the clock speeds of the Vega 8 iGPU on the 5705G / GE, but maybe they're higher...guess we'll need to wait and see.

the R7 5705GE looks attractive. lower stock speed than the 5705G, but same turbo at almost half the TDP.
Yeah, for those wanting to build an absolutely tiny new HTPC with some serious power, that 5705GE @ 35W might be very interesting. My own HTPCs are all Athlon 5350 AM1s or similar, and are struggling with 4k content. I gotta go check which hardware decoding features these particular VEGAs can do natively, because i think server -side hardware decoding then streaming requires one of those media apps on the server that is paid per month And has full access to your files. My HTPC/media/file server setup is almost completely disconnected from the internet, so such softwares are a non-starter for possible future HTPC setups.

Regardless, some of those very, Very small HTPC boxes with 60-100w PSUs (like pico PSUs) should easily be able to handle a 5705ge -based system very comfortably. Not exactly shopping at the moment myself (still un -cluster@#$%ing my finances), but I'll definitely keep an eye on these chips.

Why not an ARM-based system running Android or Linux though? Kodi works fine on those platforms. Should be able to stream via Moonlight if you want to game on the TV too.
