Any end in sight for high RAM prices?

There is something that has been bugging me. Why can you buy a 2gb flash drive for $25 and have to pay 10x as much for dram ?
According to an article I just read, flash memory is supposed to be more expensive than dram.

From this article :

Flash memory uses far different chips than what is used on DDR modules. Consider that the -fastest- USB thumb drives max out at 35MB/s... and DDR2-6400 modules are closer to 5,500MB/s on a stock 2.0GHz Intel Core system.

high RAM prices appear to be gone. There was a 2GB PC2-6400 kit of Buffalo Firestix on NCIX for like $130 with $9.99 express shipping the other day. I missed it but there will be more coming!!!

A deal like that is amazing really, especially if it has some overclocking potential.
